The Kansas City Chiefs nearly pulled off one of the most insane comebacks of the 2023 season before a penalty reversed a touchdown by wide receiver Kadarius Toney. The improbable play occurred late in the fourth quarter when quarterback Patrick Mahomes hit tight end Travis Kelce deep downfield on a crucial drive with less than two minutes remaining in the game. Kelce darted upfield and lateraled the ball to Toney, who was completely uncovered near the left boundary. A Buxton man was found guilty today of transmitting a threatening interstate communication, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Maine. The verdict came after a three-day jury trial in the U.S. District Court in Portland with Chief Judge Jon D. Levy presiding. According to evidence presented during the trial, on September 8, 2021, Brian Dennison, 27, posted on Twitter, “I’m going to kill jews with my ar15 tomorrow,” the release said. FBI investigators identified Dennison as the likely author of the threat and executed search warrants at his Buxton residence. Among the items seized were approximately 1,700 rounds of ammunition that could be fired from an AR-15-style rifle. Investigators also found evidence that Dennison had a long-standing animus toward Jewish people, the release said. In October 2021, investigators executed another search warrant at the property and found an AR-15-style rifle and ammunition in a case that had been hidden in the woods behind the residence. Dennison faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. He will be sentenced after the completion of a presentence investigation report by the U.S. Probation Office. Telecom giant Verizon hired Leslie Berland, previously the top marketing exec at Peloton and Twitter, as CMO. Berland will assume the role of executive VP and chief marketing officer at Verizon, effective Jan. 9, 2024. She’ll report directly to Hans Vestberg, Verizon chairman and CEO. Berland takes over the CMO role from Diego Scotti, who exited Verizon earlier this year and now serves as PayPal’s EVP and GM for consumer group and global marketing and communications. Berland will lead all aspects of Verizon’s global brand and marketing strategy, including marketing activation and creative, marketing effectiveness, consumer insights, media buying and strategic partnerships. (Reuters) — A former executive at Twitter Inc., now called X Corp., has filed a lawsuit claiming he was fired after Elon Musk acquired the company for objecting to budget cuts that would prevent the company from complying with a U.S. government settlement over its security practices. Alan Rosa, who was Twitter’s global head of information security, filed the lawsuit late Tuesday in New Jersey federal court alleging breach of contract, wrongful termination and retaliation, among other claims. X Corp. did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Mr. Rosa claims that late last year, after Mr. Musk acquired the company, he was told to cut his department’s budget for physical security by 50% and to shut down software that enabled Twitter to share information with law enforcement agencies around the world.
