The prospect of Donald Trump tweeting again, with all his incoherently capitalized words and not-very-veiled threats against anyone and everyone, is getting closer to becoming a reality.Former president Donald Trump, who's blazing a campaign trail like no other, scorching earth and threatening violence as he goes, might be looking back to his old virtual stomping ground of Twitter a.k.a. X pretty soon. While Trump has reportedly been contractually obligated to do all of tweeting/truthing on Truth Social the past two years, that joke of a social media platform for Marjorie Taylor Green stans is likely going to the internet graveyard, at least according to a new financial filing. As CNN reports, the parent company of Truth Social, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), is hemorrhaging money. SEC filings released Monday show that the company has lost $31.6 million since it launched in early 2021. And despite Trump's bluster to the contrary, Truth Social still only has a dismal 861,000 monthly active users — i.e. about 1% of what X/Twitter has, despite that platform's recent woes."TMTG has suffered negative cash flows and recurring losses from operations that raise substantial doubt about its ability to continue as a going concern," the filing said

LISBON — Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales slammed X, formerly known as Twitter, after its takeover by Elon Musk, saying the social media service is losing users and has been "overrun by trolls and lunatics."The comments continue a war of words between the two high-profile technology figures that goes back to last year.Responding to a question about what Musk's $44 billion acquisition of Twitter means for the social media landscape, Wales responded on Tuesday: "It's a huge problem.""I think a lot of people are fleeing Twitter, a lot of thoughtful and serious people are fleeing Twitter," Wales told CNBC at the Web Summit tech conference in Lisbon."Twitter was, and now I guess X sort of is, in a way, the default public square for the world. And if it's being overrun by trolls and lunatics, it's not good for any of us."X did not respond to a request for comment when contacted by CNBC. Research from analytics firm Similarweb shows engagement metrics are down for X compared to last year.Wales' comments come after Musk offered Wikipedia $1 billion if it changes its name to "Dickipedia."The spat between the two goes back to last year when Musk alleged Wikipedia has "a non-trivial

Pebble, a startup that took on Twitter and failed, has returned from the dead — as a Mastodon instance, it seems. The company announced last month that it was shutting down its Twitter/X alternative citing the increasingly competitive landscape, X’s ability to retain users and its own failure to gain traction with a wider audience. But after deliberately avoiding any plans to participate in the decentralized social network Mastodon during its time as a startup, Pebble has now given itself a fresh start as a dedicated Mastodon server dubbed pebble.social. It was initially unclear if the new Pebble server was a community-led attempt to keep the small network afloat or something more official. Despite clearly displaying Pebble’s branding and tagline, there wasn’t any information about who started the Pebble instance or why. But TechCrunch has now confirmed the Pebble instance was recently established by Pebble co-founder and CEO Gabor Cselle as something of a new social experiment. However, members of the Pebble community are involved in the server’s moderation. Cselle tells us that the community asked the founders to set up a subreddit and a Mastodon instance so they’d have somewhere to go when Pebble shut down, so they did.

The scrapped “Coyote Vs. Acme” has now garnered a filmmakers vs. Warner Bros. campaign on social media. On private Facebook group Crew Stories, “Coyote Vs. Acme” crew member Nate Bannister posted (and gave IndieWire permission to quote) his frustration. “I was Key ALM on this movie, almost died of stress pulling all the permits, we closed down the entirety of downtown Albuquerque, I had to call in every favor of my career to close an overpass with a half a days notice, I got so many angry calls from neighbors, business owners, etc day and night, working on this movie almost tore apart my relationship with my fiancée,” he wrote. “Why do I work in this industry?” The live-action and animated hybrid film starring John Cena was officially axed by Warner Bros. James Gunn produced the feature and was also credited with the story; “May December” screenwriter Samy Burch penned the script with Dave Green directing. “Coyote Vs. Acme” was inspired by a
