Elon Musk Becomes First Trillionaire With SpaceX IPO – Variety

Elon Musk is officially the world’s first trillionaire after his SpaceX tech company debuted Friday at $150/share, 11% higher than the company’s IPO pricing. SpaceX — rocket manufacturer, satellite internet service provider, AI firm and owner of X (aka Twitter) all rolled into one — had already officially set a record for the biggest IPO in history with its initial stock pricing. On Thursday it confirmed the pricing of its IPO of 555.6 million shares of its Class A common stock, at a public offering price of $135.00/share. That gave it a valuation of around $1.77 trillion and the company raised about $75 billion from the IPO. Shares of the company, which is officially “Space Exploration Technologies Corp.,” began trading Friday at around 11:50 a.m. ET on the Nasdaq Global Select Market and Nasdaq Texas exchanges under the symbol “SPCX.” The stock shot up over $160/share, pushing its market cap over $2 trillion. Shares closed at $160.95/share after its first day of trading, closing up 19.2% from the IPO price and putting SpaceX’s current market cap at $2.11 trillion. It's the eighth state that the CFTC has sued, in its ongoing effort to argue that all prediction market providers are offering derivatives products that need to be regulated at the federal level, rather than gambling products that would be overseen at the state level. The complaint reads similarly to other filings the CFTC has made. The various court cases are continuing their journeys through the legal system, with several appellate courts considering the matter as well. Court unanimously sides with defendant in criminal venue dispute over where a crime occurs

The Supreme Court on Thursday ruled in Abouammo v. United States that federal prosecutors can try a defendant only in the district where his crime was committed, not where its “contemplated effects” were felt. Specifically, in a unanimous decision by Justice Elena Kagan, the justices rejected a federal appeals court’s conclusion that the intent requirement in 18 U.S.C. § 1519 – which criminalizes falsifying documents in a federal investigation – allows the government to prosecute the defendant where such an investigation is located. Ahmad Abouammo was convicted of violating Section 1519 by creating a fake invoice on his computer in Seattle and emailing it to FBI agents. From 2013 to 2015, Abouammo worked at Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters, where his role gave him access to a tool that could pull users’ private, identifying data. Prosecutors said he used that access to find information about Saudi dissidents and pass it along to a high-level official in the Saudi royal court. In return, Abouammo received a luxury watch along with three wire transfers of $100,000 each as “consulting” income. A humanitarian worker for the Red Cross who tweeted satire “critical of the Saudi government” had his information disclosed and was apparently “detained in Saudi Arabia due to

Unsubstantiated Roman Anthony report is swirling on Red Sox Twitter and riling up fans

The Boston Red Sox didn't exactly set Roman Anthony up for success in the wake of his hand injury. They initially thought the young outfielder could avoid the injured list with just a day or two of rest, but Anthony hasn't played in a game since May 4. Over a month later, he hasn't made much progress. Anthony is still sporting a brace on his ailing hand isn't yet swinging a bat as of June 10. Boston's offense is still struggling severely and fans are looking everywhere to place blame — Anthony's recovery timeline is a top target. A June 9 tweet from the Pesky Podcast had some Sox fans up in arms. The hosts claimed to speak with someone familiar with Anthony's recovery situation and posted that "Driveline had him doing dry swings daily" while he was supposed to be resting his hand. They claim that the premature swinging allegedly worsened his injury and he still has weeks of recovery ahead of him, plus a rehab assignment, specifically in Portland. Red Sox color analyst Lou Merloni took umbrage with the podcast's statement. He didn't mince words in his response tweet: "Normally I would not comment on something like this
