Opinion: The left came after me on Twitter for criticizing the FBI's raid on Trump's home. Here's why I enjoyed it.It began in waves on Friday night with “notifications” on Twitter telling me to take cover. It continued through the night and all of Saturday.A Twitter mob had formed with torches and pitchforks and animal intensity all in pursuit of ... me.A schlep like me.As quickly as I could click on the Twitter bell icon that informs me I’ve got “notifications” - Twitter’s euphemism for flaming rocks launched in my direction – the icon filled with more and more and more. One by one, 10 by 10, 100 by 100, they told me in words both civilized and not what an idiot and imbecile and son of you know what I am, and my relatives, too. They accused me of being MAGA. Ha! Considering how many times I have criticized Trump and his supporters, the only people who hate me as much wear adjustable red ball caps. The Twitter mob wanted my head on a pike and my job on a poker. The source of all this Twitter furyWhy were they so angry?I had written a couple of columns saying the Justice Department and FBI screwed up by breaking more…

Normally a CEO selling that much stock in his own company would crash its share price but, in Tesla’s case, it hasn’t, because Musk has a sound ostensible reason for raising cash, The reason given is that he needs to raise cash for the Twitter purchase if a Delaware court forces him to go through with it. But there may be another reason for the share sale and Musk could be using the Twitter deal as a cover to protect the Tesla share price.. The other reason is that the Californian Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has ben stepping up its scrutiny of Tesla’s claims for its ADAS capability. In May 2021, in response to a Musk tweet that some Tesla cars had a beta version of  a “full self-driving” (FSD)  programme installed, the DMV stated: “Elon’s tweet does not match engineering reality, Tesla is at Level 2 currently. Tesla indicated that they are still firmly in L2. As Tesla is aware, the public’s misunderstanding about the limits of the technology and its misuse can have tragic consequences.” In March 2022, replying to concerns raised by US Senators Richard Blumenthal and Ed Markey, Tesla director Rohan Patel wrote that both FSD…

The richest person in the world, and one of the most recognized businesses on the planet, are squaring off in a legal battle for the ages.Already one of the most-watched events in the world, the Elon Musk-Twitter lawsuit will send shockwaves throughout the technology and legal communities. And this clash of titans could very well be decided by an obscure and ethically compromised business court: The Delaware Court of Chancery.Wielding jurisdiction over the majority of publicly traded companies and the Fortune 500, Delaware’s Chancery Court is without a doubt the most influential judiciary that most Americans have never heard of. But this bombshell case will finally provide the public a glimpse into what has traditionally been a star chamber tribunal, without a shred of transparency. And while an opaque Chancery could compromise the results of this lawsuit, the American people deserve to see how the self-dealing philosophy of “you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours” drives this court’s agenda. The New Castle County Courthouse, home of the Delaware Chancery Court. Angela Rasmussen studies the interactions between hosts and pathogens and how they shape disease. Before the pandemic, she worked on the emerging viruses that cause Middle East respiratory syndrome (Mers), Ebola, dengue and avian flu. Then, when Covid-19 erupted, the American virologist, who works at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada, was drawn into the debate over where it came from. She has been among the most vocal scientists on Twitter defending a “natural” origin, as opposed to a lab leak. Last month, she and 17 co-authors published findings in Science that they feel should silence all rational critics on the question. In the Science paper, which started life as a preprint in February before going through peer review, you say that the Huanan seafood wholesale market in Wuhan was the “early epicentre” of the Covid-19 pandemic. To be clear, are you saying that the Huanan market was the origin of the pandemic? That is what the research heavily implies. We are not able to pinpoint the exact spillover event, the exact animal from which the virus crossed into humans, but there’s really no other explanation for what our analysis shows. And that is that there weren’t any Covid-19 cases in Wuhan…

Fox tried to add an extra dose of nostalgia to its Field of Dreams Game telecast Thursday night by having a hologram of legendary sportscaster Harry Caray signing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the seventh-inning stretch. Suffice it to say, it wasn't as well-received as the network had hoped. MLB fans had been warned Wednesday about the possibility of a hologram of Caray, who died in 1998. A man hears Fox is testing a reanimated Harry Caray in hologram form for tomorrow's Field of Dreams game? Elon Musk’s legal team is demanding Twitter turn over the names of employees responsible for calculating what percentage of the social media site’s users are bot and spam accounts, according to a source familiar with the matter. Bot and spam accounts on Twitter have become a central issue in the legal fight over whether Musk, who is Tesla’s chief executive, must complete his $44 billion acquisition of the social media company. Musk said last month he was terminating the deal because Twitter has withheld information about these accounts. Twitter sued Musk to complete the deal, and has said the issue has no bearing on the agreement with Musk. An Oct. 17 trial is scheduled in Delaware. In a letter filed under seal on Tuesday, Musk’s lawyers asked the judge overseeing the case to compel Twitter to hand over the employee names so that the defense team can question them, the source said. Bloomberg first reported the request by Musk’s lawyers. A lawyer for Musk declined to comment. Twitter did not immediately respond to request for comment.

So Forspoken‘s new trailer is out, and it’s going over freaking terribly on social media. Memes are just something we do now, it seems. On Tuesday, Square Enix released a short teaser for Forspoken. Protagonist Frey Holland narrates it, quickly recounting her exploits in some far-off mythical land — and everyone is clowning the dialogue. The delivery is akin to that Joss Whedon-like writing that is in virtually every Marvel Cinematic Universe film these days, where most lines are teeming with jokey remarks that become rather grating after a while. Before we go any further, please watch the video for yourself below. Context is key and all that. A beautiful and cruel new land? Twisted monsters? An array of magical abilities? Sentient jewellery!? Welcome to the world of #Forspoken. pic.twitter.com/46diiLnQ7M — Forspoken (@Forspoken) August 8, 2022 Of course, these sorts of quips don’t bother everyone. Let’s face it: an overwhelming majority of blockbuster movies over the past decade were marketed like this, so it’s not unprecedented. The game itself might be utterly devoid of this sort of Avengers-like speak, too; we won’t know until Forspoken comes out next year. But careful examination rarely stops the meme train from pulling up…
