splitgate-is-still-so-slammed-that-it-has-a-new-server-status-twitter-account

Splitgate is still so slammed that it has a new server status Twitter account

Server queues are between 30 and 90 minutes As we learned a week ago, portaling FPS Splitgate was so popular during its open beta phase that 1047 Games had to extend the beta and delay launch. They're currently attempting to expand their servers and fit over 100,000 players. At the moment, interest in Splitgate is still outpacing their ability to expand, with queue times hitting 90 minutes yesterday. 1047 are now tracking server and queue status on Twitter while they work to keep up and say they are "working our tails off." Splitgate's developers reported pulling in an unanticipated 50,000 players across all platforms as of July 20th. It currently has nearly 60,000 players on Steam alone. "The rate of growth of our playerbase is faster than the rate we can increase server capacity," 1047 explain. "We are working on a long term solution to greatly increase server capacity to well over 100k concurrent but this takes time." They also shared an explanation of the situation from their server engineer, who likens the sudden popularity to being a five-top restaurant suddenly facing a queue of thousands of diners. They want to expand, sure, but setting up the infrastructure and hiring…

Ben Stiller Asserts Hollywood Is Meritocratic, Rejects Claims Of Hollywood Nepotism In Twitter …

When Franklin Leonard took to Twitter on Tuesday night to decry a recent film casting, Ben Stiller shot back in a spirited conversation about whether people got Hollywood gigs on the basis of their abilities or if nepotism played a role. The Black List founder commented on a casting story Deadline broke about Hopper Penn, son of Academy Award-winning actor Sean Penn, signing on to star in a short film from Destry Spielberg and Owen King, also children of Hollywood royalty (director Steven Spielberg and author Stephen King, respectively). Leonard posted bluntly, “Hollywood’s a meritocracy, right?” Accompanying the text was a photo split of the successful Hollywood artists’ progeny. MLB Twitter explodes after Giants trade for former MVP Bryant

Giants Giants The Giants made a splash at the MLB trade deadline by acquiring four-time All-Star Kris Bryant from the Chicago Cubs on Friday. While it was down to the wire, San Francisco got their guy. Bryant was one of the bigger names on the trading block, and baseball Twitter was stoked to have the former NL MVP wearing orange and black. Here are some of the reactions across social media. To start things off, this was the exact moment Bryant found out he was being traded. He showed his emotions after spending seven seasons with the team that drafted him back in 2013. Giants starter Alex Wood blended in with the rest of trade deadline Twitter with many eye emojis.  Giants insider Alex Pavlovic dubbed this the perfect fit all along. Some viewed Giants president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi as some sort of superhero: Giants general manager Scott Harris, formerly employed by the Cubs, probably is looking forward to this next chapter for Bryant as well.  The Giants Triple-A affiliate River Cats appeared pretty happy with the acquisition: Some weren't too happy with it.  NBC Sports Bay Area's own Bonta Hill likes it. He “likes it a lot.” Anthony Garcia,…

Damian Lillard, Henry Abbott Spar on Twitter

Portland Trail Blazers All-Star Damian Lillard and TrueHoop founder Henry Abbott engaged in a war of words on Twitter today. The foundation of the beef was a pair of stories in which Abbott discussed Lillard’s status with the Blazers, citing sources who claimed that Lillard was nearing the point of demanding a trade out of Portland. The first story appeared on July 16th, a piece in which Abbott chronicled Lillard’s topsy-turvy season and suggested a trade demand could be imminent. Lillard refuted that claim in a press conference soon after, but also stated that his future with the team was undecided. On July 27th, Abbott published a follow-up, again citing sources, this time from a Team USA dinner in which Lillard reportedly talked about his desires for the future and Portland’s inability to meet them so far. The article claimed that Lillard was willing to follow in the footsteps of fellow superstar James Harden, who forced his way out of the Houston Rockets organization last season. Lillard responded on Twitter that the speculation was “getting out of hand”. With the preliminaries out of the way, the two NBA luminaries went at each other directly on Twitter today. Abbott made the…

Steak-umm just schooled the internet on misinformation. Facebook, Twitter, and Google should …

Frozen meat company Steak-umm fired off a tweetstorm Thursday about, in part, misinformation. It also posted about cultural polarization, media literacy, and other topics. The likes of Facebook and Twitter, tasked with policing false info, could take a cue from Steak-umm's insight. Loading Something is loading. The most recent lesson on misinformation came from an unlikely teacher: the frozen meat company, Steak-umm. And Facebook, Twitter, and Google should take notes. The Pennsylvania-based brand on Thursday posted a "beefy thread" on Twitter about "societal distrust in experts and institutions, the rise of misinformation, cultural polarization, and how to work toward some semblance of mutually agreed upon information before we splinter into irreconcilable realities."Steak-umm said "one universal goal everyone should prioritize is getting people from across the ideological spectrum closer to the same reality of baseline facts and evidence," a difficult feat given in part the expansive nature of online platforms and "people's access to infinite information."The company also said there can be shortcomings with experts and institutions, but that doesn't make "fringe sources equally credible or trustworthy." Steak-umm didn't name any names in its thread, but the challenges it discussed have been faced by Facebook, Google, and Twitter for years.  Things have…
