Elon Musk’s ‘toxic’ X/Twitter banned by town council over Grok AI ‘nudes’ – Yahoo News UK

Marazion town council in Cornwall has formally banned the use of X/Twitter by its councillors and staff. Marazion Town Council thinks it is the first of 213 councils in Cornwall to ban the use of Elon Musk’s social media platform as a tool to publicise what it is doing or to chat with residents. As part of a full council meeting this week, a motion was passed on a majority decision by councillors to prohibit X (formerly Twitter) from being used. It was felt that using the platform for anything that the council wanted to promote went against both the local authority’s and the town’s “beliefs around tolerance, respect and inclusiveness”. Part of the reasoning was cited as the platform’s Grok AI feature which has been under fire worldwide for being used to ‘undress’ women and create and share ‘nude’ photos of famous women. The motion was tabled by Cllr Richard Stokoe. He said he made the move “because X/Twitter continues to use sexploitation, and especially child sexual exploitation, through the manipulation of images to undress people to make money. “Yes, there is always the right of free speech but free speech can be done in places which aren’t making

Labour Court adjourns to consider X unfair dismissal case – RTE

Updated / Tuesday, 27 Jan 2026 18:36 In December 2022, the WRC found that Twitter had unfairly dismissed the company's former Director of Source to Pay, Gary Rooney The Labour Court has adjourned to consider an appeal taken by X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, against a record unfair dismissal award of €550,131 to a former executive. In a ruling in August 2024, the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) found that Twitter had unfairly dismissed the company's former Director of Source to Pay, Gary Rooney in December 2022. Mr Rooney had failed to respond to the "Fork in the Road" email from X owner Elon Musk in November 2022, in which employees were asked to click "yes" if they wanted to remain on with the company, adding that they would need to be "extremely hardcore" and work "long hours at high intensity". Mason Eaves, Director of Technical Accounting at X gave evidence at today's Labour Court hearing. Asked what happened to the Remuneration Committee of the Board of Directors of Twitter when the company was taken over by Elon Musk, Mr Eaves said the entire board was replaced by Mr Musk and that he is the sole member of the

St. Cloud Leaders Issue Joint Statement as ICE Operations Continue in Central Minnesota | KNSI

(KNSI) – In the wake of ongoing Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations in central Minnesota, dozens of civic, business, and education leaders in St. Cloud have issued a joint statement affirming their commitment to democratic values and peaceful community engagement. The statement, signed by 73 community leaders including Mayor Jake Anderson, St. Cloud State University President Gregory Tomso, and former Mayor Dave Kleis, calls for a community where people are safe, dignity is honored, and differences are met with respect rather than fear. The diverse group of signatories spans multiple sectors, including local government officials like Stearns County Commissioners Tarryl Clark and Bob Johnson, education leaders from St. Cloud Technical & Community College and the College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University, nonprofit executives, business owners, and religious leaders. At the heart of their message is a belief that democracy depends on how community members treat one another. The leaders emphasized that peaceful dialogue, freedom of expression, and equal protection under the Constitution are essential to a society where everyone can contribute.
