IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - Iowa Vaccine Alerts is less than a month old on Twitter. It has around 22,000 followers as of Wednesday, but the web developer who created the account almost shut it down.31% of adults in Iowa have had one COVID-19 shot or more. That number was 27% last week. It’s not just the supply increasing. Iowans over 65 without computer access can pull out their cell phone, make a call to 211 and get help scheduling an appointment. But, now they’re competing with a new, younger, group of people with their own set of tools.Brian Finley, who created an automated account that tweets when new vaccine appointments are available at a Hy-Vee, CVS, or Walgreens, created one of those tools. He said the thought of taking the vaccine away from people who needed it made him think about shutting his Twitter account.“I don’t do well thinking that something that I would do would make this harder for anyone,” he said. “But as most people in the health care business will attest you, there’s not always one right answer for everybody and so it was a matter of finding a way to do the most good while…

IOWA CITY, IA (KWQC) - Getting a vaccine has proven to be a challenge for many. One Iowa man is making the process a little easier with a Twitter page. Brian Finley, an Iowa City web developer, felt the frustration when trying to sign up for a vaccine.“Just like everybody else I was trying to find a vaccine for me and my family. I became eligible when they opened up the criteria on the eighth so trying to find a vaccine that everyone has had trouble with, I had the same kind of trouble,” says Finley.So the web developer used his skills and got creative.“I dug into the code on the Hy-Vee website and as well as what other web developers that had come up with for information nationwide and I was able to find a way to search the entire state at once,” says Finley.He then decided to help fellow Iowans get connected to appointments with a Twitter page. A run-of-the-mill Twitter squabble between Cardi B and Candace Owens Tuesday evening ended with Owens claiming she plans to sue Cardi for posting a Photoshopped tweet suggesting that Owens’ husband had cheated on her with her brother. Got all that? Cardi had posted a clip of Owens speaking on Fox News, in which she said Cardi and Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP” performance at the Grammys “feels like we are looking at corrosion, like we are about to see the end of an empire.” Owens responded to Cardi’s tweet by calling her “a cancer cell to culture,” and, well, things only went downhill from there. The Tennessee Titans were busy in free agency once again on Tuesday, this time coming to terms on a contract agreement with cornerback Janoris Jenkins. The financial details and length of the pact are still unknown. Earlier in the day, the Titans made two surprising moves with the release of cornerback Adoree’ Jackson and right tackle Dennis Kelly, so bringing Jenkins aboard amounts to an answer for the former move. While Jenkins wasn’t the big splash we were expecting, the 32-year-old veteran corner is a good fit in Tennessee, as he excels in man coverage.
