WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz set conservative Twitter on fire as he tore into Jack Dorsey, the platform’s CEO, during a recent Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, creating the sort of viral moment senators crave from such high-profile exchanges. “Facebook and Twitter and Google have massive power. Journalist Tavleen Singh has withdrawn the civil defamation suit filed by her against social media user Shashank Singh alias @pokershash for a satirical tweet posted by him on Twitter. The District and Sessions court in New Delhi dismissed the case against Shashank as Tavleen Singh took the case back. Later, he came to know that Tavleen had indeed filed a suit against him for a satirical tweet. Though, he added that he hadn’t received any summons till date. Shashank welcomed Tavleen’s decision to withdraw the lawsuit and opined that people with financial resources and knowledge of the law should not exploit it to threaten common citizens. (WETM) Twitter prepares to support the transition of White House institutional Twitter accounts. Twitter says they are actively preparing to change the president of the United States, First Lady of the United States, and Press Secretary accounts, just as they did in 2017. The process is being done in close consultation with the national archives and records administration. The NRAA has historically played a role in appropriately preserving records following administration transitions. The Twitter transition will switch over on January 21, 2021.

Beyond the challenges of the pandemic, the year 2020 has brought a whole host of wacky events, both big and small. President-elect Joe Biden will secure control of Twitter’s official @POTUS account and others associated with the White House on Jan. 20 — regardless of whether Donald Trump has, by then, conceded that he lost the election. In addition to @POTUS, the Biden team on Inauguration Day also will take over accounts including @WhiteHouse, @VP, @FLOTUS and @PressSec. Twitter’s plans were first reported by Politico. “Twitter is actively preparing to support the transition of White House institutional Twitter accounts on January 20th, 2021,” a Twitter rep said Friday. “As we did for the presidential transition in 2017, this process is being done in close consultation with the National Archives and Records Administration.” In the nearly two weeks since major news outlets projected Biden had won the 2020 U.S. presidential election, Trump and his cohorts have continued push conspiracy theories about widespread voter fraud without any credible supporting evidence (including on Twitter, which has flagged numerous tweets by Trump as disputed or misleading). After Trump leaves office, he will lose the special exemption that Twitter extends to political leaders under which the social network flags (but does not remove) posts that would be considered policy violations for regular users, CEO Jack Dorsey said at a Senate hearing this week. “If an account suddenly is not a world leader anymore, that particular policy goes away,” Dorsey said. Starting rookie quarterback Justin Herbert showed up to his media availability and the first thing reporters noticed was the lack of hair on his head. The quarterback said Wednesday that strength and conditioning coach John Lott was the man behind the clipper who turned Herbert's long locks into a buzz cut. Naturally, with such a sudden appearance change such as this, Twitter was in a frenzy over the haircut. It was reportedly his first haircut since 2017 or 2018. Herbert himself said he thought that Lott "did a good job," per the Athletic's Daniel Popper, but his teammate, right guard Trai Turner, wasn't as convinced.
