Vanderbilt Women’s Tennis – Dores Finish as NCAA Runner-Up

November 23, 2025 Historic run for Célia-Belle Mohr, Sophia Webster comes to an end in doubles final ORLANDO, Fla. — Vanderbilt women’s tennis suffered a 7-5, 6-4 defeat to NC State in the NCAA Doubles Championship final to finish as an NCAA runner-up after earning the first NCAA Championships final berth in program history. “Firstly, congratulations to NC State on a great tournament and a well-played match in the final today,” head coach Aleke Tsoubanos said. “Célia and Sophia played an outstanding NCAA tournament. I know it’s hard to see it now, but I hope they’re proud of the performance they put together this week in making a historic run to the NCAA Doubles Championship final. They were a joy to coach and be with on court this week, and I couldn’t be happier for the success they’ve had together this fall. I have tremendous faith in them and can’t wait to see what the spring dual season holds for our team.” Facing the Wolfpack’s No. 10 ranked Gabriella Broadfoot and Victoria Osuigwe, the Dores battled blow-for-blow to a 4-4 tie in the first set. Twitter Gold: Duke’s Best Trick Play In 5.6 Decades – Duke Basketball Report

In the annals of Duke Football, there is one play that stands alone, famous above all others. It took place in 1969, in the third quarter against UNC. Duke quarterback Leo Hart pretended to tie his shoelace during a timeout and Marcel Courtillet tossed the ball to Wes Chesson, who took off for the end zone, later saying it was the easiest touchdown he ever scored. It helped Duke, just 2-6-1, win the game 17-13. This was just four months and two days after Neal Armstrong touched down on the moon and people still marvel about the play. We don’t know if the fake field goal in Saturday’s game will be remembered quite the same way, but it was a heck of a play. And it was gutty as hell. Down 25-24 on 4th & 3 with 2:28 to play against your most hated rival is not the time most coaches would call for a trick play. Well, that’s exactly what Duke’s staff ordered up as punter Kade Reynoldson tossed the ball to kicker Todd Pelino, who took off to the left and ran 26 yards, getting the ball to the one-yard line. Duke ended up getting a touchdown instead

Dores Soar on Senior Day – Vanderbilt Athletics

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Graduate Diego Pavia saved his best performance to date for his final home game as a Commodore at FirstBank Stadium, as the quarterback set the school’s single-game passing yards record with 484 yards through the air to lead No. 14-ranked Vanderbilt in a 45-17 victory over Kentucky on Senior Day. The Albuquerque, New Mexico, native’s 484 passing yards vs. Kentucky breaks Whit Taylor’s 44-year-old program record of 464 passing yards set at Tennessee during the 1981 season. Pavia also matched his school record for most passing touchdowns in a game with five, equaling his 5-touchdown performance vs. Utah State on Sept. 27. The quarterback posted a career-high 84.6 percent completion percentage, as he connected on 33-of-39 pass attempts. The quarterback also added a team-best 48 rushing yards and a score on the ground to give him six total touchdowns against the Wildcats. Pavia continues to stay hot to close out the 2025 regular season. He has now thrown for 350-plus yards with four-or-more total touchdowns in each of his last three contests. Since the calendar rolled to November, the quarterback has thrown for 1,226 yards with 11 passing touchdowns with only one interception, while he has added

Cavaliers Rally for Gritty Win Over Northwestern at Greenbrier Tip-Off – Virginia Sports

By Jeff White (jwhite@virginia.edu) VirginiaSports.com WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — Through its first four games, the UVA men’s basketball team did not trail for a single second. It was inevitable, though, that the Cavaliers would face adversity, and that happened Friday night in the Skechers Greenbrier Tip-Off. They didn’t flinch. After falling behind by seven points midway through the first half, Virginia steadied itself and took a four-point lead into intermission. Then it was Northwestern’s turn to take control. The Wildcats scored 19 points in the first five minutes of the second half to take a 55-48 lead. Once again, the Wahoos battled back. They went ahead to stay with 3:56 remaining and went on to secure an 83-78 victory in a ballroom that, for this event, has been converted into a gym. In front of a crowd dominated by their fans, the Hoos (5-0) went 9 for 10 from the line in the final 61 seconds to hold the Wildcats (4-1) at bay. Northwestern was the first Power 4 opponent on Virginia’s schedule, and head coach Ryan Odom never expected another blowout. “We knew it was going to be a big-time battle,” Odom said, and that proved to be the

Highlights, MVP, and Twitter reactions as Kentucky bounces back against Loyola Maryland

The Kentucky Wildcats returned to Lexington tonight as they welcomed the Loyola Greyhounds to Rupp Arena. In need of a bounce-back game, the Cats trounced the Greyhounds, 88-46. With a ton of turbulence surrounding the program over the last two weeks, the Cats needed to show some fight in a game that should have been a cakewalk. They did exactly that in the first 20 minutes, including an awesome shooting performance from 3. Add that in with some connected defense, and it was a 50-20 game heading into the half. Then they kept the momentum rolling in the second half, absolutely dominating Loyola on both ends of the floor. Flashing the ability to score from all three levels, despite the level of competition, it is good to see the team come together and show some more consistency, especially on offense. The Cats have some major games on the horizon, as North Carolina and Gonzaga are a little over a week away. After the flops in the first two major non-conference games, Kentucky is going to have to take advantage of the next few matchups to get really locked in to make some noise against the Tar Heels on December 2nd.
