In 2011, I appeared on an RTÉ Radio documentary called #TwitteronTrial in which presenter Pat O’Mahony and a panel of Twitter afficionados tried to convince me of the worth of the four-year-old microblogging platform. On air, I sceptically set up a profile. In the succeeding months I learned its worth as a journalistic tool and proceeded to get addicted to its endless stream of breaking news, novelty and argument. Two weeks ago, I deactivated that profile. I hadn’t posted there in some time due to changes Elon Musk had made to the platform since 2022, but I would check in occasionally. I was, by this point, unsurprised by the racism, misogyny and homophobia on the platform but I was not expecting the huge number of non-consensual deep-faked porn images users were posting of any woman or child whose image could be found online. Twitter had, within years of its founding, re-engineered how global discourse worked. It was the place which helped foment the Arab Spring revolutions, where politicians and public figures made public announcements and where people went for a snapshot of current events. MIDDLETOWN, CT. -  The Wesleyan women's squash team welcomed William Smith College to the Rosenbaum Squash Center on Thursday morning and played a perfect 9-0 game with 3-0 match sweeps down the lineup. Wesleyan advances to 6-3 on the season while William Smith falls to 0-9. RESULTS Highlighting the morning in a quick and simple victory, Aanya Anand '26 dropped just three points at #3 as she defeated Scarlett Sandoval 11-2, 11-1, 11-0 in a 13-minute match. Anand wasn't the only Cardinals to play it quick and easy. At #9, Marveya Velasquez '27 took just 12 minutes to shake Amalia Clemente 11-1, 11-3, 11-3 while Caroline Caiati '28 defeated Sadie Sanchez 11-3, 11-1, 11-1 in the same span at #7. Saara Saini '28 made an appearance at #8, running an 11-1, 11-3, 11-2 match win over Katherine Hughey. With 11-2 wins in each game, Leandra Sze '26 finished with a win over Ashley Ambrosio at #6. Facing Teghan Torrey at #5, Jaclyn Dichter '26  ran an 11-0, 11-4, 11-1 final tally. Stationed at #4, Penelope Furnas '27 saw Kimberly Javier's finish in an 11-4, 11-0, 11-3 final. Story by Duke fans learned a lot of the Kon Knueppel story well before the rest of the country did. Grew up in Milwaukee in a basketball family, initially preferred gaming to hoops and learned to play in his father’s men’s league. Coming from a basketball family is part of the Duke profile. You don’t have to look too far. Cooper Flagg did too and on this year’s team we have Cameron and Cayden Boozer, Patrick Ngongba and Nikolas Khamenia. The Boozers are sons of Duke great Carlos Boozer, Ngongba’s father played at George Washington and his mother has coached in college for years, while Khamenia’s father was a GW teammate of Ngongba’s and his mother played too. That shot may have saved the season. Malachi Moreno is becoming a star, and someone Kentucky Basketball can go to in crunch time. Moreno’s buzzer-beater on a long inbounds pass from Collin Chandler gave Kentucky a 75-74 win, after being down by as many as 18 points. Kentucky scored 53 points in the second half and held LSU to just 36 in the final 20 minutes. First Half True to form, Kentucky got off to an extremely slow start offensively. They scored just three points in the first 8:48 of the game, trailing 18-3. That was Gonzaga-like bad. The Wildcats could generate any offense, could not work the ball down low, and struggled to create any shot attempts. All of that continued in the first half, with the Wildcats shooting just 8-of-30 in the first half from the field and 2-of-12 from three-point range. Worse, Kentucky was out-rebounded 22-16. Indiana University of Pennsylvania Athletics Jacob Oberdorf / IUP Athletics Communications Men's Swimming & Diving 1/13/2026 2:35:00 PM Jacob Oberdorf, Director of Strategic Communications and Ideation LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — IUP freshman swimmer Trent Powell was named the PSAC Male Swimmer of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday. Powell was dominant in the Crimson Hawks' Jan. 4 New Year's Kickoff meet against Davis & Elkins. He was part of two relay teams that finished first in the 200-yard medley relay and the 200-yard freestyle relay. Powell also earned an individual victory in the 100-yard butterfly.
