Trump SEC lets Musk settle $150 million Twitter lawsuit for $1.5 million – Ars Technica

Under a proposed order filed by the SEC yesterday, the Elon Musk Revocable Trust would be “permanently restrained and enjoined from violating” Section 13(d), and the trust would be ordered to pay the fine to the SEC. The trust did not admit or deny the SEC’s allegations, court filings said. Musk lawyer Alex Spiro “said in a written statement that regulators had only fined the trust while dismissing the claims against Musk personally,” according to The Wall Street Journal. “Mr. Musk has now been cleared of all issues related to the late filing of forms in the Twitter acquisition, as we said from the outset he would be,” Spiro said. “A trust vehicle has agreed to a small fine for being late on one filing.” Jury found Musk liable for false statements US District Judge Sparkle Sooknanan rejected Musk’s motion to dismiss the case in February 2026. “In his motion, Mr. Musk does not dispute that the Complaint adequately alleges that he disregarded the disclosure requirements of Section 13(d),” Sooknanan wrote. “Rather, he attacks the constitutionality of those requirements. He argues that Section 13(d) cannot be enforced against him because it burdens his constitutional rights under the First Amendment by

Troy University College of Health Sciences Hosts Health Day Camp for 165 Pike County …

Troy University’s College of Health Sciences welcomed approximately 165 fifth-grade students from various schools across Pike County to its Health Day Camp, an interactive event designed to promote healthy habits and spark interest in health science-related careers. The one-day camp, held on the Troy campus, featured hands-on learning stations focused on key topics including mental health, nutrition, hygiene, basic first aid, exercise, and safety. Students participated in engaging activities such as educational games and demonstrations that reinforced lessons on physical activity and wellness. Jenna Hussey, DNP,RN, Associate Professor in the School of Nursing and coordinator of the event, said the camp was a success in reaching young learners early. “Introducing children to foundational health concepts at this age helps them build lifelong habits and shows them that careers in health sciences such as nursing, social work, nutrition, and physical education are accessible and rewarding,” Hussey said. “We were thrilled to see the excitement on their faces as they rotated through the stations and asked thoughtful questions about how their bodies work and how these professions can help people every day. Events like this align perfectly with our mission to serve our community and inspire the next generation of health science

Musk’s “World War III” threat in Twitter lawsuit haunts him at OpenAI trial – Ars Technica

Just days before the trial started, Elon Musk tried to settle his lawsuit, which alleges that under Sam Altman’s direction, OpenAI abandoned its mission to serve as a nonprofit making AI to benefit humanity. According to a Sunday court filing from OpenAI, Musk messaged OpenAI President Greg Brockman two days ahead of the trial to “gauge interest” in a possible settlement. Brockman promptly responded, suggesting that “both sides” drop their claims. But Musk refused, then appeared to grow threatening enough that the court may allow Brockman to testify on the message as evidence supposedly revealing Musk’s true motives for pursuing the litigation. “By the end of this week, you and Sam will be the most hated men in America,” Musk responded to Brockman’s suggestion that all claims be dropped. “If you insist, so it will be.” OpenAI clearly did not accept the settlement terms, as the trial started last week with Musk as the first witness. On the stand, Musk stumbled several times, perhaps weakening his case by making concessions, growing hot-tempered, backing off claims that AI risks may quickly become existential, and admitting his ignorance when it comes to AI safety at his own company, xAI. If admitted, his

UFC Fight Night results: Carlos Prates smashes Jack Della Maddalena, calls for title shot

Prates went into enemy territory and dominated on Saturday night in Australia May 2, 2026 at 11:24 am ET • 1 min read The UFC welterweight division has a problem on its hand and its name is Carlos "The Nightmare" Prates. The Brazilian slugger finished his second straight former champion on Saturday in the main event of UFC Fight Night in Perth, Australia, when he systematically broke down Jack Della Maddalena in his hometown en route to a third-round TKO that was as thorough as it was violent. Prates (24-7), who improved to 7-1 with seven knockouts since his 2024 UFC debut, called for a title shot next and said he expects to face the winner of a rumored August title bout between 170-pound king Islam Makhachev and Ian Machado Garry, who is the only fighter to defeat Prates inside the Octagon. "I'm not here to play. I respect Jack, he's a great champion but it's just business. It's part of the game," Prates said. "I need to ask something, who is the next? In August, I will be first in line watching Makhachev and Garry and I want to fight the winner. "Brazil never had a champion in the
