KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Marking the second announcement bearing her name on Friday, senior UTSA soccer goalkeeper Jasmine Kessler was named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women’s Players to Watch list for the 2026 intercollegiate season, as the organization announced its goalkeeper recognition on Friday afternoon. Kessler becomes the first UTSA player to appear on a United Soccer Coaches preseason watch list. Just hours after being named to the American Conference Preseason Watch List, the fourth-year goalkeeper from Spring, Texas netted another historic first in a career delivering them for the Roadrunners. Working her way toward fully rewriting the record book in the net for the Roadrunners over the past three years, Kessler is among the top goalkeepers both in the American and in the nation – now recognized by the United Soccer Coaches Division I All-America Committees as top 20 keepers to watch heading into the 2026 season. Last year, Kessler was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Third Team, American All-Conference Second Team and was the American Championships Most Outstanding Defensive Player after leading the Roadrunners in goal to their first American title. A free online leadership course offered by Troy University in 2020 planted a seed for Baytown, Texas resident Justin Ross Glover, and on July 24, that seed bloomed into a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies. Glover was among the more than 300 Troy University graduates to receive their diplomas during the summer commencement ceremony inside Trojan Arena on the Troy Campus. For Glover, Friday’s walk across the graduation stage represented the culmination of a journey that began 27 years ago. Glover lived in southern Alabama from ages 5 to 8, but then his family bounced around the south, before landing in Texas, where he finished high school. He started college in 1999. “It was hit or miss – a lot of fun and taking semesters off to work,” he admitted. “I finished my associate’s degree in 2010.” Glover had occasional thoughts of continuing his education, but it was the notice about a free leadership class that appeared on Linked In in 2020 that caught his attention. “In 2020, I saw on Linked In an announcement about Dr. Hawkins’ free online course, Leadership 101, and I decided to take it,” he said. “It planted a seed. CALGARY – Penn State women's hockey assistant coach Jenn Wakefield has been named an assistant coach for Canada's National Women's Development Team, Hockey Canada announced Thursday.  The appointment marks Wakefield's first coaching role with Canada's National Women's Development Team. She previously spent four seasons (2021–25) as an assistant coach with the Netherlands women's national team.  As a player, Wakefield won an Olympic gold medal with Team Canada at the 2014 Winter Olympics and captured gold at the 2021 IIHF Women's World Championship. During her 11-year career with Canada's National Women's Team (2007–18), she recorded 88 points on 47 goals and 41 assists in 119 international games.  At Penn State, Wakefield enters her third season on staff in 2026-27. She helped guide the Nittany Lions to the most successful season in program history in 2025-26, highlighted by a fourth consecutive Atlantic Hockey America Tournament championship with a 3-2 victory over #12 Mercyhurst on Mar. 7. Few imagined that a service built around brief updates would become one of the principal architects of modern consciousness through an endless stream of opinions. Twitter—now X—would eventually reshape journalism and commerce and politics and entertainment and even the interior habits of ordinary people who suddenly found themselves living inside a permanent public conversation that seems to never end. Every civilization develops institutions that slow the flow of information. Wisdom usually grows through reflection rather than immediate reaction. Editorial judgment has historically functioned as a cultural filter (through families, churches, publishers, schools, and universities) before ideas reached the wider public through some process of testing and verification, which often frustrated impatient voices while also restraining emotional impulses. Newspapers and television eventually joined that process. They frequently served the common good through courageous reporting. They also frequently became ideological gatekeepers because concentrated influence eventually tempts every institution toward self-preservation. Every generation inherits imperfect editors. The only question concerns who edits the public conversation. Twitter and social media at large dramatically weakened that editorial barrier because every opinion could
