Elon Musk launches invite-only X Money with Visa debit card – Spectrum News

NEW YORK — Elon Musk’s social media company X, formerly known as Twitter, launched its own bank account-like product where users can send money to one another. The service, known as X Money, is not a new bank. X Money is using technology and banking services provided by Cross River Bank, and branding that backbone as X Money. It is common for new financial companies to use a traditional bank’s backbone to launch its services, as chartering a new bank is a timely and costly process. How a mean tweet about Rachel Levine shaped the X platform Elon Musk bought and built

Before Twitter became X, before Elon Musk stripped away protections for transgender users and before the platform earned the lowest LGBTQ + safety score among major social networks, there was Adm. Rachel Levine, the trailblazing doctor and public health official from the Biden administration. Or, more precisely, there was a deliberate act of humiliation aimed at her. Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon now places Twitter’s response to his conservative satire outlet’s 2022 post misgendering Levine near the center of the origin story behind Musk’s $44 billion takeover. Speaking at the 2026 Alliance Defending Freedom Summit earlier this month, Dillon said Musk contacted the Babylon Bee after Twitter locked its account over a post naming Levine, a transgender woman, its “Man of the Year.” Musk then called Babylon Bee editor-in-chief Kyle Mann, Dillon said. “Maybe I just need to buy Twitter,” Musk said, according to Dillon. “We thought he was totally kidding,” Dillon told the audience in a video on the ADF’s YouTube page. Eight months later, he noted, Musk walked into Twitter’s headquarters as its owner. The Advocate asked Musk and X whether Dillon’s description of the call was accurate and whether the post targeting Levine influenced Musk’s decision to

Mets 8, Dodgers 3: Ending a successful road trip with a dud

The Dodgers dropped the finale of a nine-game road trip by losing to the Mets, 8-3, though they still had a successful 6-3 start to the second half. More than anything, I was just surprised they actually tried today. ====== Emmet Sheehan has had a rough go of late and things looked as bad as they could get to start today. A bloop double was followed by a pair of singles to make it 1-0 Mets early. Lindor gets us started! ? pic.twitter.com/RAjTLWshgm — New York Mets (@Mets) July 26, 2026 But thanks to the defense, that was almost literally it. Sheehan rebounded by retiring the final three of that inning, stranding a lead-off hit batter in the 2nd, and two-out walks in the both the 3rd and 4th. He got his first clean inning in his final inning of the day in the 5th. As alluded to, Andy Pages and Max Muncy helped. Surprised this was as routine for Pages as it was. pic.twitter.com/iaX9BVWF4H — Chad Moriyama (@ChadMoriyama) July 26, 2026 Max Muncy barehand play to get Francisco Lindor , lol. Countdown to debate night: Gov candidates in final hours of prep – WISN

Countdown to debate night: Governor candidates in final hours of prep ahead of debate on WISN 12 'UPFRONT' recap: David Crowley addresses latest campaign crisis, Rep. Mark Pocan issues warning ahead of debate David Crowley, the Democratic candidate for governor, says voters "aren't worried about tweets" from 2010 linked to an account registered to Crowley that included racist, homophobic and sexist posts. "So this was a Twitter account that was created more than a decade-and-a-half ago, and this is when I created this Twitter account," Crowley said on WISN 12's "UPFRONT," which is produced in partnership with WisPolitics. "But many individuals had access to this Twitter account, and so there are different posts on this account, and there are a lot of offensive and cruel comments on these posts. I want folks to understand I don't condone that type of language, and anybody who knows me knows that I wouldn't use this type of language." NBC News first reported on the account. "I would always tell people to go back and read the story itself because it really, it was corroborated with other individuals," Crowley said, referring to his assertions that other people wrote the offensive posts. "But again, we're

Republicans X/Twitter account slammed as it repeats ‘Barack Hussein Obama’ attack

For years, US president Donald Trump has launched attacks at one of his predecessors, Barack Obama – in particular, the 80-year-old convicted felon has constantly referred to the Democrat by his full name, “Barack Hussein Obama”, as a pejorative. And when the Republican Party decided to share the nickname on X/Twitter on Friday, it was soon met with criticism online, with independent journalist Aaron Parnas writing: “They are obsessed”: Political commentator Alex Cole decided to rewrite the tweet focussing on the current president and said: “Donald *Convicted Felon* Trump”: MeidasTouch editor-in-chief Ron Filipkowski offered up a spin on a Republican insult and said the tweet was “Obama Derangement Syndrome”: Rasmus Jarlov, a retired conservative MP from Denmark, responded: “This is the level our American sister party has fallen to. They are an embarrassment to conservatives all over the world”: Jonah Goldberg, editor-in-chief of The Dispatch, branded the tweet “pathetic”: And journalist John Harwood called the Republican Party “the trash party”: Obama addressed Trump’s constant attacks last month on an episode of the All the Smoke podcast, in which he said: “I obviously have a room in his head. A suite in his head. “First of all, when I was president
