Combate Global Completes Funding Round to Power YouTube Growth – WORLD SCREEN

Combate Global has wrapped a mid-seven-figure fundraising round to power the Hispanic MMA sports franchise’s expansion on YouTube. The capital raise was offered exclusively to existing investors in Combate Global, which reached profitability last year. The company is looking to amplify its reach by making its live television events free of charge, in both Spanish and English, on its global YouTube channels. “YouTube provided Combate Global with a massive opportunity to transform our business into a digital-first property, and this new funding will allow Combate to maximize its success on the world’s number one streaming video platform,” said CEO Campbell McLaren. Joe Plumeri, the chairman of Combate Global’s board of directors, added, “The Hispanic population is the last remaining growth sector in the U.S. economy, one that continues to be underserved and one that Combate Global, through experience, understands how to authentically engage better than any other sports entertainment property or marketer in the world.” McLaren, co-creator of the UFC, launched Combate Global in 2013. REPORT: YouTube still on top of TV viewing – Kidscreen

Nielsen's latest Media Distributor Gauge report finds that 12.4% of all TV-watching in the US happens on YouTube, which beat every other major channel or streaming platform. For the third month in a row, YouTube came out on top as the platform where US audiences watched the most television, according to Nielsen’s new April 2025 Media Distributor Gauge report.  Google’s mighty AVOD service beat out every other major media operator with a 12.4% share of all TV watch time in the region, which was up slightly from 12% in March. This is the largest share that YouTube has captured to date, according to Nielsen.  Disney came in second for the month with 10.7%, driven by sports events like the NFL Draft and streaming hit Grey’s Anatomy , which alone racked up 3.9 billion minutes of watch time in April. Rounding the top five, Paramount (8.9%), NBCUniversal (8.2%) and Netflix (7.5%) all maintained their spots.  The Gauge is Nielsen’s monthly snapshot of total broadcast, cable and streaming viewing on television screens. Its April data covers the period between March 31, 2025 and April 28, 2025. Nielsen’s Media Distributor Gauge data from April 2025. Courtesy of Nielsen.  About The Author Senior reporter

YouTube Beats Korean Bundling Probe, Eyes Premium Lite Launch – Digital Music News

A nighttime shot of Seoul, South Korea. Photo Credit: Yohan Cho YouTube looks to have resolved a bundling-focused investigation in South Korea, where the platform reportedly intends to launch its Premium Lite subscription. Local outlets shed light on the resolution, which will seemingly end a years-long Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) probe. As we reported last month, the investigation centered on YouTube Premium’s music streaming market impact. At present, Premium (offering ad-free access to YouTube proper and Music) is available for $10.87/₩14,900 per month in South Korea, where close to 90% of the population actively uses YouTube. That’s compared to $8.75/₩11,990 per month for Music, and unsurprisingly, many have opted to pay the extra $2 monthly for across-the-board viewing without ads. But according to critics and the KFTC, this model means YouTube’s leveraging its video-sharing dominance at the expense of on-demand streaming platforms. With little incentive for Premium subscribers to utilize different music services, the likes of Melon and more have reportedly suffered material market-share slips in recent years. And it’s safe to say that the competitive landscape is also compelling international players to adapt. Having previously offered only paid plans in South Korea, Spotify embraced an ad-supported tier in

How a Live-Feed From LAX Became YouTube’s Latest Hit – The Hollywood Reporter

On any given day, Nancy Bliven will spend hours watching 747s roar down the runway at LAX. Which itself might not be particularly remarkable — except for the fact that she lives more than 2,000 miles away. “I’ll turn on the 24-hour YouTube channel and put that on,” says the 68-year-old retired computer consultant from Wixom, Michigan. “It as much entertains my cats as it does me.” Bliven is part of a growing global community of virtual plane-spotters — aviation fans who tune in remotely to livestreams of major airports. Think of it as the Bob Rossification of air travel: planes taking off and landing in high def, narrated in soothing tones by amateur broadcasters who’ve turned this niche pastime into a big-time business. Her favorite channel? Airline Videos, a YouTube juggernaut with more than 800,000 subscribers. Three times a week, creator Kevin Ray livestreams jumbo jets arriving and departing at LAX, among other airfields, splicing in air traffic control audio, eye-catching onscreen graphics and his own colorful play-by-play that gives the whole thing the feel of a cable sports broadcast — if ESPN covered nothing but wide-body Boeings. Other livestreaming channels have also found audiences: Airliners Live, based out

Tony Reali launches new YouTube channel after ‘Around the Horn’ goodbye

Screen grab: ‘Pablo Torre Finds Out’ Around the Horn came to an end after well over two decades on the air at 5 p.m. ET as a tentpole franchise for ESPN. Reali has been making the media rounds throughout the last week talking about the cancellation of ATH, how he hoped to change the minds of his bosses, and the uncertainty surrounding his future. And for the moment, it appears for all intents and purposes that he will be moving on from the WorldWide Leader in Sports when his contract expires soon. That was evident as the Around the Horn host made his first post-ATH move as soon as the show went off the air. Tony Reali hosted a live stream following the final edition of Around the Horn on his new YouTube page that lasted about two hours and had about a dozen of his former panelists appear throughout the stream. Tony Reali also has a website where he says that he is open for work. “Event? Retreat? Fantasy draft? Game night? Godfather to your kid? You’ll never know unless you
