(The Center Square) – Top U.S. Senate Republicans are eyeing a controversial accounting method to theoretically slash the multi trillion-dollar price tag of President Donald Trump’s “big, beautiful bill.” However, tax policy experts remain strongly divided over whether the tactic would constitute legitimate policy or a recipe for fiscal disaster. The current version of the budget reconciliation package, entitled the One Big Beautiful Bill Act , passed the U.S. House on a razor-thin margin. The bill would give a 10-year extension to key portions of the expiring 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, raise the debt ceiling by $4 trillion, and fulfill Trump’s energy, border security and defense agenda. Using the traditional current law baseline, House leaders calculated that the tax cut extensions would lead to an estimated $4.3 trillion in lost revenue over the next decade. To help offset the cost, House committees included more than $1.7 trillion in savings in the package. They assumed that economic growth from the tax cut extension would cover the rest, though the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget estimates the bill would still add at least $3.1 trillion to the national debt by 2034. But Senate leaders want to make the tax

It is the highest share of television viewing so far for YouTube, according to the Gauge from Nielsen. Online video also saw its highest share of viewing, at 44.3% of all television viewing, almost as much as all other measured television viewing. YouTube is the clear leader in online video viewing on television in the United States, far ahead of Netflix with 7.5%, Disney at 5.0% and Amazon at 3.5%. YouTube viewing also exceeds that for all output distributed by The Walt Disney Company, which includes ABC, which had 10.7% of viewing. Paramount, which includes CBS, had 8.9%. NBCUniversal had 8.2%. These four distributors each exceeded the share of Netflix viewing. YouTube has ranked as the top source of viewing for three consecutive months of 2025, having topped the list only once in 2024. Netflix has meanwhile averaged at just under 8% of all viewing. Its most recent 7.5% was the fourth consecutive monthly decline in share of viewing. That is not to say that YouTube is taking viewing share from Netflix.

With this integration, viewers will soon be able to use Google Lens to search what they see while watching Shorts. For example, if you’re watching a Short filmed in a location that you’re interested in visiting, you can select a landmark and ask Lens to identify it. From there, you would be able to learn more about the destination’s culture and history. By integrating Lens into Shorts, YouTube is working to enhance visual search capabilities and give users more ways to discover and search for content in an intuitive and interactive way. It makes sense for the company to enhance search capabilities for YouTube Shorts viewers by leveraging Google Lens, especially since TikTok and Instagram Reels don’t offer similar functionality. Once the functionality rolls out, users will be able to try it out by pausing a Short and then selecting the “Lens” option in the top menu. Then they will need to either draw, highlight, or tap on something they want to search. Lens will then provide visual matches and search results overlaid on the

His audience has grown because of how he challenges common misconceptions about the laws of nature, and his rise has paralleled YouTube’s, whose creator-focused approach has made it the world’s largest streaming service by almost every measure—from content library to audience size—recently surpassing Netflix in revenue. Amid this symbiosis, Veritasium evolved—from unpolished five-minute clips of Muller quizzing people on the street to technically sophisticated science explorations with the satisfying depth of feature films. Muller himself has appeared in many roles: trickster science teacher, experimenter with a mad-scientist flair, fearless investigator in the mold of Indiana Jones. And in Veritasium’s most recent video, one of the channel’s longest yet, he steps forward as an advocate for one of today’s most pressing health issues: the toxic “forever chemicals” that are now being found to contaminate almost every human being, animal and ecosystem on Earth. Entitled How One Company Secretly Poisoned the Planet , the video clocks in at nearly an hour and garnered almost

Getty Images ERIN, Wis. — One of these days, we’ll see Lydia Ko starring in a YouTube golf video, but for now, she’s content just watching golf on YouTube. And plenty of it. So much that she’s actually leaned on it to prep for this week’s U.S. Women’s Open at Erin Hills. Ko used part of her press conference Tuesday to explain that one of the difficult aspects of one of the most trying tournaments on the calendar is learning a new course every year. That’s major championship golf, but it requires a heightened level of attention. So much that players will arrive earlier than normal — that was the case for Ko, who showed up over the weekend — and even begin studying weeks in advance, like a 12-handicapper ahead of a buddies trip. So Ko found herself watching Erin Hills content on YouTube, particularly the Bryan Brothers video where they attempt to shoot scores that would qualify for a made cut at a previously-hosted major championship. Grant Horvat, another popular YouTuber, often hosts one
