Nicki Minaj's 'Super Bass' Booms Its Way to One Billion Views on YouTube – Billboard

The Queens rapper's monster hit reached the milestone 12 years after its initial release. Nicki Minaj, "Super Bass" Courtesy Photo Just a few months after picking up her seventh competitive MTV Video Music Award (best hip-hop for “Super Freaky Girl”), Nicki Minaj has added yet another music video-related accolade to her collection. On Oct. 26, Minaj’s “Super Bass” officially crossed one billion views on YouTube. “Super Bass” served as the fifth single from Minaj’s blockbuster 2010 debut studio album Pink Friday. Eventually peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, “Super Bass” became the rapper’s first unaccompanied visit to the ranking’s top 10. In recent years, “Super Bass” has appeared on several Billboard staff lists, including The 100 Best Karaoke Songs of All Time (No. 7) and The 500 Best Pop Songs That Appeared on the Hot 100 (No. 13). The song’s music video also earned Minaj her first of five best hip-hop Moonpeople at the VMAs, the most victories of any artist in that category. Minaj — who is a finalist for top rap female artist at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards — is currently prepping Pink Friday 2, a sequel to the 2010 original that will serve

Since May, YouTube has ramped up its block of ad blockers, and the company has now fully launched this policy worldwide. In a statement today (first shared with The Verge), YouTube said it has “launched a global effort to urge viewers with ad blockers enabled to allow ads on YouTube or try YouTube Premium for an ad free experience.” The use of ad blockers violate YouTube’s Terms of Service. We’ve launched a global effort to urge viewers with ad blockers enabled to allow ads on YouTube or try YouTube Premium for an ad free experience. Ads support a diverse ecosystem of creators globally and allow billions to access their favorite content on YouTube. YouTube spokesperson This takes the form of a prominent “Ad blockers violate YouTube’s Term of Service” message in the video player that ultimately does not let you proceed unless you “Allow YouTube Ads” (by disabling your ad blocker for youtube.com with a link to full instructions for AdBlock, Adblock Plus, and uBlock Origin). The alternative is subscribing to YouTube Premium, which is currently $13.99 per month (or $139.99 annually) in the US after a recent price increase in July. A family plan for up to five members is $22.99 per month, while student pricing is $7.99 per

YouTube's Ad Blocker Crackdown Is Getting Harder to Dodge – Gizmodo

Image: PixieMe (Shutterstock)The best part about one company revolutionizing video-sharing on the internet is that it gets the say in how awful that experience can be. After beginning to roll out a healthy nudge to turn off ad blockers or subscribe to the platform’s ad-free Premium offering, YouTube is now forcing users’ hands.Google’s Antitrust Case Is the Best Thing That Ever Happened to AIAs users continue to trawl the depths of YouTube, they will now be greeted with a pop-up warning them to disable their ad blocker saying “video playback is blocked unless YouTube is allowlisted or the ad blocker is disabled.” This notification began popping up for users across the platform earlier this month, but it was as simple as shrugging it off by closing out the message. Shortly thereafter, YouTube forced users to acknowledge the message but still allowed them to exit out of it after a brief timer elapsed. Now, YouTube is requiring users to take action in the platform’s favor in order to circumvent the pop-up.YouTube communications manager Christopher Lawton told The Verge Tuesday that using an ad blocker is actually against the platform’s terms of service. He also told the outlet that “ads support a

October 11, 2023; Inglewood, CA; CAPTION at YouTube Theater. Brutal guitar riffs and choreography, crowd surfers and towel waving, mosh pits and performers sharing hand hearts with the crowd.  If some of these terms seem incongruous at a single concert, welcome to the world that is Babymetal.  Two sold-out crowds at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood witnessed all of this as the self-proclaimed “kawaii metal” Japanese group, composed of lead singer SU-METAL and “scream and dance” members MOAMETAL and MOMOMETAL, performed on October 11th and 12th for the last stop of their Babyklok tour, sharing headlining duties with the metal band Dethklok.
