It stars Pauly Shore and Sean Astin as two friends who discover a caveman (Brendan Fraser), whom they help to integrate into modern-day Los Angeles. Once the living fossil thaws out, the friends figure he's their ticket to being cool. But the plan backfires when the newcomer turns everyday life upside down, generating pre-hysterical craziness wherever he roams! Co-starring Sean Astin and Brendan Fraser, you'll definitely dig Encino Man -- the totally irreverent, totally awesome comedy that shows just how hilariously out-of-control things evolve once the stone age meets the rock age head-on!" Over the past year, Shore has teased Encino Man 2, suggesting that Disney+ would make a good home for the potential sequel. As The Mighty Ducks…

Shawnee Mission School Board Stops Streaming Public Comments After YouTube Removed Video

Published September 2, 2021 at 5:11 PM CDT In May, YouTube took down a video of a Shawnee Mission School District board meeting for "medical misinformation" stated during a discussion about masks. So the district stopped streaming the public comments segment of its meetings. The decision was not unanimous. "There's so much good that comes of our public comment portion," said board member Jessica Hembree, "that I think that having it broadcast is useful for just government accessibility and transparency."Board member Laura Guy expressed her concern over continuing to broadcast the meetings "without jeopardizing" their presence on the social media platform. For those who think that YouTube violated the constitutional rights of speakers at the meeting, law professor Allen Rostron pointed out that "the First Amendment applies to governments. Like most constitutional rights, it can only be violated by governments," not by businesses like YouTube.Laura Guy, member, Shawnee Mission School BoardJessica Hembree, member, Shawnee Mission School Board Allen Rostron, professor, University of Missour - Kansas City School of Law

Google's Incredible YouTube Purchase 15 Years Later – Investopedia

Nearly 15 years ago, Alphabet Inc.'s (GOOGL, GOOG) Google purchased YouTube for the hefty sum of $1.65 billion. The actual date the news hit was Oct. 9, 2006. That may seem like a small sum for the behemoth that YouTube is today. But back then, the video site had been around for less than two years—even if it was growing like a weed. Key Takeaways Google purchased YouTube for $1.65 billion nearly 15 years ago. It has been a tremendous success for parent company Alphabet, now contributing nearly 11% to overall revenue. Big Money keeps plowing into Alphabet shares. This is back when there wasn't any major video sites on the net. However, when YouTube came on the scene, it made big waves with users … and that growth hasn't stopped. According to Britannica, the number of videos available passed 25 million in March 2006. That's after the site went live in December 2005. Fast forward to today, and some estimate that there are tens of billions of videos on the platform! That's insane growth. But there's even more to the story because reports are now saying that YouTube's music service has recently passed 50 million paying subscribers. So, all of…

YouTube Gaming signs Twitch superstar TimTheTatman – USA Today's FTW

YouTube Gaming is signing exclusive streaming deals with Twitch stars left and right, with the latest being Tim “TheTatman” John Betar. As was the case with DrLupo only days before, Betar claims the move will allow him to spend more time with his family. “When I started, I had no family obligations, and I could stream a lot of hours,” Betar said, via Business Insider. “The reality is, now that I’ve got my wife and my son, it’s hard for me to stream as much as I did beforehand.” Betar made news of his move to YouTube official with a trailer chronicling some of his, well, former professional endeavors. Check it out for yourself below.  the futurehttps://t.co/Hz9YZ0m2EA pic.twitter.com/ekGwDreHOL — timthetatman👑 (@timthetatman) September 1, 2021 Twitch actually commemorated Betar’s career on the platform with a lovely montage too. You'll always be a King to us. Thank you for everything, @timthetatman. pic.twitter.com/keeZeElnpm — Twitch (@Twitch) September 1, 2021 With more than seven million followers, Betar is leaving behind a massive fan base on the platform. Betar’s audience will likely keep up with his escapades in games like Call of Duty: Warzone regardless, though. “I’d say seven to eight out of 10 people coming up to…

Roanoke group starting YouTube series 'Urban Valor' to share veterans' stories – WSLS 10

The goal is for the series to launch by the end of SeptemberRoanoke group starting YouTube series ‘Urban Valor’ to share veterans’ storiesROANOKE, Va. – Left at the Kabul Airport is nothing but disabled equipment as the withdrawal from Afghanistan is complete. However, the images coming from that region before and after the withdrawal can be triggering for many veterans who served over the past 20 years.“There are repercussions at home, I think,” said Virginia Tech political science professor Dr. Karen Hult. “There also is a sense of the personal connections that many of the people who served in the middle east and especially in Afghanistan are going to be bringing back and reminded of -- the people that they met, helped, and the close relationships they had with those they fought with.”A Roanoke group is helping veterans take their armor off and not be afraid to talk and reach out for help.“It’s just such an underserved community, in our opinion. We just really want to drive as much attention and monetary assistance as we possibly can to help as many people as we possibly can,” said Benjamin Shaw.AdShaw’s team is working with a marine combat veteran from California to…

YouTube videos address mental health concerns of NYS parents and students – WETM

by: Delaney Keppner Posted: Aug 31, 2021 / 01:53 PM EDT / Updated: Aug 31, 2021 / 01:54 PM EDT Students sit in a socially distanced classroom on the first day of school for the 2020-21 school year at Hudson Falls High School. (Facebook/Hudson Falls Central School District) NEW YORK (WWTI) — The New York State Office of Mental Health created a series of ‘Back to School 2021’ videos that are available to assist parents, caregivers and students as they prepare for the new school year. The OMH surveyed hundreds of New York children and families to learn what might be causing anxiety and concern ahead of this school year and decide what the videos should focus on. According to a press release from OMH, the videos will help kids and parents deal with the stress and other issues caused by the pandemic over the last 18 months. OMH Commissioner Dr. Ann Sullivan said the videos are there to help after the challenging year a half students and parents have faced. “This has been an extremely trying year for the students of New York and for their parents. Some students haven’t been in the classroom for 18 months. Others have had to…

ASMR YouTube videos are calming and gentle. The comments under them are even better …

YouTube comments are frequently not very nice (or, to use another Guardian writer’s words, are “an infamously troll-ridden wild west of abuse, ignorance and spam”). Something about a cursor blinking in a blank comment box just brings out a certain side of human nature (the bad one). Except, for some reason, if it’s below an ASMR video, where it appears to invite a more or less pure stream of all that is tender in the human heart. These are videos made to provoke one’s autonomous sensory meridian response – AKA “a tingly feeling” – through soothing sounds and visuals that range from the banal to the extremely obscure. There’s a lot of roleplay, and a strong focus on being taken care of (and, increasingly, colourful slime). “ASMRtists” might (pretend to) cut your hair; measure you for a suit; give you a medical check-up; help you find a library book; welcome you, a new Santa Claus, to the Christmas Village (I don’t know either); or just potter around, making peaceful noises by opening things and pouring tea.People come to these videos to feel calm and good. So maybe it makes sense that everyone watching them is primed to gently compliment each other.“Who…
