Google Reinvents YouTube Again with Premium Video Channels – AOL – Yahoo

Updated Fri, July 15, 2016 at 1:16 AM UTC Google Reinvents YouTube Again with Premium Video Channels In 2006, Google (GOOG) bought Internet video powerhouse YouTube for $1.65 billion. The search giant claims the deal was a financial success. Management says that YouTube's revenue rose to nearly $1 billion last year, and it hints that the site may be profitable. But Google doesn't have to break out YouTube as a unit in its quarterly financial statements, and profits within divisions of big firms always depend what expenses the parent assigns. For example, who pays for the video storage and bandwidth costs for YouTube -- the video site or Google? Google's latest move to boost the site and raise revenues is to create premium video channels on YouTube, several media outlets are reporting. The premium zone would include as many as 20 sections of content, all streamed to TVs, PCs, and portable devices. That makes YouTube's new model sound just like those of nearly every challenger in the premium video market, from Netflix (NFLX) and Comcast (CMCSA) to Amazon (AMZN), Apple (AAPL) and Hulu. 15 Minutes to 40+ Minutes: Pokémon YouTube Landscape Evolves to Enormous Subsection

“Pokémon Blue” plays on a TV Feb. 27, 2024. The “Pokémon” series recently celebrated its 30th anniversary. Photo by Tony Gleason For 30 years now, fans have been catching ‘em all in the “Pokémon” series of video games. For the fans who wanted more though, they’ve had Pokémon YouTube to create content, which — just like the Pokémon themselves — has evolved. Multiple “Pokémon” YouTubers (PokéTubers) said the PokéTube landscape has evolved over the years, each with their own trends and big name channels dominating the space. What was once barely a community, has grown into a massive subsection of YouTube. “Now it’s so big that we’ve kind of almost gone back to where we started, where the “Pokémon” content creators are kind of in their own small section of the community, because there’s so much to cover,” said YouTuber Josh Wittenkeller, who runs the channel TheJWittz. YouTuber Ron Sroor, who runs the channel Truegreen7, said the PokéTube landscape can be divided into three generations characterized by the most popular content from each: Gen I from 2012-2013, Gen II from 2014-2018 and Gen III from 2019-present. Generation I: Birth of PokéTubing The first-ever video about “Pokémon” was uploaded to YouTube

LIVE: Artemis II Launch Day Updates – NASA

Live launch day updates for NASA’s Artemis II test flight will be published on this page. All times are Eastern. 6:59 p.m. The Orion spacecraft’s SAWs (solar arrays wings) have fully deployed, completing a key configuration step for the Artemis II mission. Flight controllers in Houston confirmed that all four wings unfolded as planned, locking into place and beginning to draw power. Each solar array wing extends outward from the European Service Module, giving Orion, named Integrity, a wingspan of roughly 63 feet when fully deployed. Each wing has 15,000 solar cells to convert sunlight to electricity. The arrays can turn on two axes that allow them to rotate and track the Sun, maximizing power generation as the spacecraft changes attitude during its time in Earth orbit and on its outbound journey to the Moon. The next major milestones are the PRM (perigee raise maneuver) and ARB (apogee raise burn) that will increase the lowest and highest points of the Orion spacecraft’s orbit and prepare the spacecraft for deep‑space operations. Following the burns, NASA will hold a postlaunch news conference at 9 p.m. from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Following the news conference, the Artemis II crew will begin preparations for

How to Fix Buffering on YouTube TV – | Cord Cutters News

Are you streaming a show or sporting event on YouTube TV, but it keeps buffering and stopping playback? You might be tempted to blame YouTube TV, but the truth is it’s probably your Wi-Fi causing the issue. Your internet may be fast, but a weak Wi-Fi signal can still cause frustrating buffering on your favorite streaming services. We’re going to walk you through fixing a few common Wi-Fi issues to help you get the best streaming experience possible. First Check Your Internet Speed Before troubleshooting your Wi-Fi, make sure you’re actually getting the speed you’re paying for. Connect a laptop directly to your modem using an Ethernet cable for the most accurate test. If you can’t do that, stand as close as possible to your modem and test on Wi-Fi. Use a site like SpeedTest.net to see what your current internet speed is. If your speed is less than half of what you pay for, contact your internet provider right away — the problem may be on their end and you should contact your internet provider for help. If you’re getting at least half the speed you’re paying for, then the issue is likely with Wi-Fi coverage in your home.

In a letter to YouTube CEO Neal Mohan and Sundar Pichai, the CEO of YouTube’s parent company Google, children’s advocacy group Fairplay expresses “serious concern” about the spread of AI-generated videos on both YouTube and YouTube Kids. The letter, which was sent on Wednesday morning, was signed by more than 200 organizations and individual experts such as child psychiatrists and educators. “This ’ AI slop ’ harms children’s development by distorting their sense of reality, overwhelming their learning processes and hijacking their attention, thereby extending time online and displacing offline activities necessary for their healthy development,” the letter reads. “These harms are particularly acute for young children.” The letter calls on YouTube to clearly label all AI-generated content and ban any AI-generated content on
