Does YouTube’s richest man have a soul? – The Butler Collegian

With a double-logoed hoodie and cash in his ears, MrBeast is clearly all about the money. Image courtesy of Rolling Stone . HARRISON PRYOR | STAFF REPORTER | hrpryor@butler.edu What happens to the richest and most subscribed-to YouTuber when his money and fame come from challenge videos? When profit is driven by how crazy the videos can get, how blurry can the ethical line become? Thanks to MrBeast, the world may just get the answer.  MrBeast — whose given name is Jimmy Donaldson — has recently come under fire for burning down a small house with a stuntman named Eric inside for content . Though the self-described “prank channel” YouTuber told his audience that the event was heavily controlled and monitored for safety purposes, the very idea of the video has sparked MrBeast’s latest controversy. Junior public health major Amanda Darwish expressed concern over MrBeast’s influence on younger audiences.  “MrBeast one of those creators where it seems like he just ‘does it for the plot’ or just to have fun,” Darwish said. “His fan base is young to follow him and do whatever he would do. Running into a fire and risking dying for a big amount of

Explore the Grand Strand with YouTube sensation Handyman Hal – KCBD

(InvestigateTV) — Millions watch Handyman Hal on YouTube, who is known for teaching kids how to fix things and encouraging them along the way. Off-screen, he is a fan favorite as well as youth pastor Shawn Goins at Refuge Church in Murrells Inlet. “I created the character Handyman Hal for our Refuge Kids program to make videos for them to watch on Sunday mornings,” said Goins. However, it was a car wash video shot during the times of COVID-19 that put them on the map. “That was the only thing kids could do, really, is go through a car wash and see the lights and the spin brushes, and that’s one of the first videos that went viral,” he said. Goins said a past job working in construction also shaped the series. “I learned about heavy machinery, learned about tools, and how things are made and how things are built. So all of that really does tie into what we do on the show.” Handyman Hal later invited his friend Alex Ossmann, also known as Awesome Alex, to join the fun. “I grew up helping my dad fix cars. I was the girl handing him the wrench, handing him the

YouTube TV will include Peacock sports content, but not NFL

Peacock-exclusive sporting events will soon be available through YouTube TV, with the noted exception of the streamer’s exclusive NFL games. John Ourand of Puck reported Monday that the recent NBCUniversal-YouTube TV carriage deal includes the launch of a channel consisting of Peacock-exclusive sporting events, but not Peacock-exclusive NFL games. The streamer contractually has one NFL game per season, and two years ago carried a Wild Card playoff game. Though Ourand would seem to be obviously referring to the new “NBC Sports Network” (NBCSN) that NBCU announced as part of the YouTube TV carriage agreement last week, it should be noted that he did not refer to the venture by that (or any) name, and he characterized it as being launched by YouTube TV. NBCU in its release last week said that it will be launching NBCSN, and described the channel as a complement to the NBC broadcast network rather than a simulcast of Peacock. It is possible, if unlikely, that these are separate ventures. It is unclear whether any other Peacock-exclusive sports programming would be expressly withheld, though it is certain that not all Peacock programming will end up on the new channel. As a streaming service, the nature of

Trump Pleads For Google to Bring Univision Back to YouTube TV: ‘VERY BAD’ For Republicans

Trump White House Makes Brutal Gaffe In Now-Deleted Post President Donald Trump said it is no bueno for Republicans that TelevisaUnivision has been pulled from YouTube TV, with the commander-in-chief pleading with Google, its parent company, to strike a new deal with the “great and very popular Hispanic Network.” The president also had a compliment for Google, which you can see below. Here is what the president said on Saturday afternoon in a post on Truth Social: I hope Univision, a great and very popular Hispanic Network, can get BACK onto the very amazing Google/YouTube. It has been taken out of their package, which is VERY BAD for Republicans in the upcoming Midterms. They were so good to me with their highest rated ever political Special, and I set a Republican Record in Hispanic voting. Google, for the purpose of FAIRNESS, please let Univision back! President DJT Trump’s public push comes after TelevisaUnivision channels were pulled off of YouTube on Sept. 30 in a carriage dispute. Variety reported Univision is the “biggest Spanish-language broadcaster in the U.S., with 59 owned and/or operated stations.” His comments also come a year after he surprised many pundits by performing so well among Latino voters.
