On July 11, a Youtuber and his cameraman parked a digital billboard outside former state police sergeant Brian Fahey’s home in Groton. The billboard displayed a previous interaction the Youtuber, Sean Paul Reyes, had with Fahey in 2021 at the state police headquarters in Middletown. Reyes had gone to the home to confront Fahey over his alleged abuse of overtime. In the video, Fahey is seen grabbing a gun and spitting on Reyes. The incident was investigated by the Office of the State’s Attorney Judicial District of Windham. As a result of their investigation, 53-year-old Brian Fahey was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. He was released on a court-set promise to appear for arraignment at Danielson Superior Court on September 3. Fahey was placed on unpaid administrative leave while the investigation unfolded. He later retired from the police force. Police said a mugshot was not provided because this is a misdemeanor crime. An internal affairs investigation report has revealed new details regarding a viral Youtube video involving a Connecticut State Police sergeant. Copyright 2025 WFSB. All rights reserved.

Today, Chang’s media business oversees more than 50 YouTube channels, along with other digital sites, and generates $3 million to $4 million in annual revenue, he said. But lately, he’s been faced with a new concern: that YouTube’s moves in artificial intelligence will eat into his business. “The fear is there, and I’m still building the channels, but I am preparing, just in case my channels become irrelevant,” Chang, 33, said. “I don’t know if I’m gonna be building YouTube channels forever.” YouTube’s parent company, Google, is using a subset of the platform’s videos to train AI applications, including its text-to-video tool Veo. That includes videos made by users who have built their livelihoods on the service, helping turn it into the biggest streaming entertainment provider in the U.S. The move has sparked deep tensions between the world’s biggest online video company and some of the creators who helped make it a behemoth. Google, creators say, is using their data to train something that could become their biggest competitor. The schism comes at a pivotal time for Google, which is in a race

The disagreement centers on how much Google should pay Fox to carry its programming, with each side accusing the other of unreasonable demands. If a deal isn't reached, several Fox channels, including Fox News, Fox Sports, and local affiliates, could be dropped from YouTube TV. If a deal isn't reached very soon, Fox content may disappear from YouTube TV. That can be a problem for Floridians who use the video streaming service for their news, entertainment or sports, especially with Alabama vs. Florida State kicking off the 2025 college football season this weekend. On Monday, Aug. 25, Google, YouTube TV's parent company, announced that its contract with Fox expires on Wednesday, Aug. 27. If the two companies cannot create a new agreement by 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday, all Fox programming would become unavailable for YouTube TV subscribers. That includes live channels and saved shows under the Fox News, Business and Sports umbrellas. YouTube TV is a subscriber service that offers live channel feeds from over 100 television networks and allows viewers to store recordings, DVR-like, for up to nine months. The

The two sides agreed Wednesday to continue talks to resolve their differences over distribution deal terms, pausing the threat of a channel blackout days before the start of the college football and NFL seasons. The announcement came minutes before the 2 p.m. Pacific deadline. Neither company wanted to let a contract squabble disrupt some of their viewers’ favorite shows. Fox News has a popular lineup with “The Five,” “Special Report with Bret Baier” and “Hannity.” Without a deal, sports fans could have missed out on Friday night’s Auburn-Baylor football game, Saturday’s high-profile contest between Texas and Ohio State and three regional Major League Baseball games airing on Fox. In addition, Fox’s NFL season kicks off on Sept. 7, giving the two sides added motivation to find a resolution. “We have reached a short-term extension with Fox to prevent disruption to YouTube TV subscribers as we continue to work on a new agreement,” YouTube said in a Wednesday afternoon blog post. “We are committed to advocating on behalf of our subscribers

YouTube TV, which is owned and operated by its parent company Alphabet (Google), provided an update on Monday, Aug. 25 about negotiations with Fox, saying that an agreement has yet to be reached to keep Fox channels on their streaming service. If the two sides can't come to a deal by Wednesday, Aug. 27 at 5 p.m. ET, YouTube TV will remove all Fox-affiliated channels from its platform, including Fox News, Fox Business and Fox Sports channels. For Detroit-area customers, that would also include WJBK-TV (Fox-2) and the Big Ten Network, whose removal would come just as the college football season is about to kick off. "Fox is asking for payments that are far higher than what partners with comparable content offerings receive. Our priority is to reach a deal that reflects the value of their content and is fair for both sides without passing on additional costs to our subscribers," YouTube TV said in a statement. YouTube TV also said it would give its customers a $10 credit if Fox channels are taken off

YouTube captured 13.4% of TV watch-time and widened its lead over second-place Disney (9.4%) by 4.0 share points, establishing the largest lead by a media company to date since Nielsen began the Media Distributor Gauge calculations in November 2023. As reported in Nielsen’s The Gauge™, pure-play streamers continued to benefit from the summer lull in traditional TV viewing, as Netflix and The Roku Channel also set platform high water marks in July. Netflix maintained its ranking among the top three media distributors this month by adding half a share point over June to finish with 8.8% of TV. Driven by a steady flow of new releases across original and acquired titles, Netflix boasted the largest volume gain across all streaming platforms this month, increasing its average minute audience by an additional 215,000 viewers compared to June.

Fox on Monday began warnings customers that its channels were at risk of being pulled “unless Google engages in a meaningful way soon.” According to YouTube, the deadline for their agreement is 5 PM ET on Wednesday, Aug. 27. August and September are often critical times for carriage deals, as they coincide with the start of the NFL season. If the Fox channels do go dark, then YouTube customers in markets with a Fox-owned station would lose access to their local NFL games, as well as college football and the MLB playoffs. Fox News, FS1, FS2, Big Ten Network, Fox Deportes, and Fox Business Network would also be impacted. “While Fox remains committed to reaching a fair agreement with Google’s YouTube TV, we are disappointed that Google continually exploits its outsized influence by proposing terms that are out of step with the marketplace,” Fox said in a statement. “We are alerting Fox viewers who are YouTube TV subscribers that they could lose

Published Aug 25, 2025 12:03 PM CDT 1 minute & 45 seconds read time TL;DR: YouTube has been secretly using AI to enhance select Shorts videos by unblurring, denoising, and improving clarity without creators' consent. This experiment aims to boost video quality but has raised trust concerns among creators who feel their original content is altered without permission. YouTube has secretly been using AI to edit people's videos over the last few months, with these changes being so small that users wouldn't notice unless the videos were placed side-by-side. The claims come from a new BBC report that cites several YouTubers who have noticed differences in their videos. One content creator, Rhett Schull, pointed to one video that looked different on YouTube Shorts compared to Instagram, with the creator saying the YouTube Shorts version looked "smoothened" with an "oil painting effect" over his face.
