Emmanuel Tupas – The Philippine Star March 14, 2026 | 12:00am MANILA, Philippines — The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) has moved to restore access of internet users to social media platform Tumblr and 17 other websites that were blocked after a technical glitch inadvertently swept them into a nationwide crackdown against illegal online gambling operations. After a surge of reports from netizens about the sudden loss of access, the CICC launched an investigation into the service disruption. Initial findings showed that the system glitch flagged 18 domains that host legitimate platforms, including Tumblr, as accessories to illegal gambling operations. The error, the CICC said, resulted in an unintentional nationwide temporary access disruption, causing alarm among the platform’s Filipino user base.
