(WKRC) — A substitute teacher in Indiana is facing several felony charges after police say he used social media platform Snapchat to obtain nude images of children and then extort them. Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department said it received five cyber tips from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, all of which came from Snapchat and were associated with the same IP address, according to reporting from FOX 59/CBS 4. Police traced the IP address to 28-year-old Dick Dean. Dean reportedly contacted multiple juveniles through Snapchat from Oct. 27 to Dec. 5, 2025. According to court documents, he would ask for nude photographs and, in return, promise the victims Snapchat+, a subscription in the app that offers premium exclusive, experimental and pre-release features. Dean would then allegedly threaten to release the photos if the victim didn’t send more, per WTHR.
