Facebook and Instagram users are expressing outrage after being banned due to a technical issue. But the problem runs deeper, as thousands of Facebook Groups have also been affected. Meta confirmed it is aware of the issue and is currently working to resolve it. Facebook Bug Triggers Global Group Suspensions Facebook Groups in the United States and other parts of the world have been unexpectedly removed or suspended as part of a widespread glitch. The issue was first flagged by Reddit users. ‘Thousands of Facebook Groups across Indonesia, Canada, the US, Thailand, Vietnam and more have been suspended or removed unexpectedly,’ said Reddit user stevendie. According to TechCrunch, the affected groups were not typically associated with moderation concerns. Many focused on harmless topics such as money-saving advice, parenting support and pet care. Others catered to Pokémon enthusiasts and fans of mechanical keyboards. Group administrators said they received violation notices citing terrorism-related content or nudity. However, no such material had been posted in the communities flagged by Meta. Many of the impacted Facebook Groups had tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands or even millions of members.
