Former Sabinal coach’s trial moved to June 24 – Uvalde Leader News

The trial for former Sabinal High School track coach and social studies teacher Kenneth Wayne Mulkey has been rescheduled for June 24. Mulkey, who remains in federal custody on charges of enticing a minor, now has until June 13 to enter into a plea bargain to avoid trial. A public affairs officer for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas told the Leader-News that court hearings could be rescheduled for a variety of reasons and he didn’t know the specific cause for this trial’s rescheduling. Federal law enforcement arrested Mulkey Jan. 31 and accused him of making indecent comments, sending lewd photos and requesting explicit photos from an undercover officer that he believed was a 14-year-old boy on Snapchat in October 2024. Court documents allege Mulkey was within 131 feet of Sabinal High School for the Snapchat conversation.
