(Photo: Great Smoky Mountains National Park) GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK (WLOS) — The Great Smoky Mountains National Park announced in a Facebook post that there has been a discovery of four brand-new millipede species. OCONALUFTEE VISITOR CENTER REOPENS AS GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN ENDS According to the post, two of the millipedes have only been found in one location, while the other two have been found throughout the park. The discoveries were made possible through the park’s ongoing All Taxa Biodiversity Inventory (ATBI) and Discover Life in America (DLIA) initiatives. The national park says the discovery was made possible because of Georgia College and State University & Hampden-Sydney College.
