RICHMOND, Va. – The Stony Brook men’s cross country team brought home its first weekly CAA honor of the season on Tuesday as Henry Gartner was named Men’s Runner of the Week. Gartner won the individual title at last week’s IC4A Championships in Bethpage, N.Y., setting a new PR in the 8K with a time of 23:47.7 to lead the pack of 286 runners. He was one of just five runners to finish under 24 minutes on the day. His effort helped lift the Seawolves to victory as they soundly won the IC4A title by nearly 60 points over second place. This is Gartner’s second ever CAA Runner of the Week award after previously winning one last fall.
