The assault took place in the stairwell of a block of flats, and in an initial Youth Court hearing the girl said she had initially consented but withdrew her consent during the sex and told the boy to “stop”. After the assault the girl fell pregnant and gave birth in a bathroom, before being taken to hospital where the police were told what happened. The balaclava-wearing defendant, a 15-year-old Romford resident, was later arrested and it was confirmed that he was the father of her child. He spent seven months remanded in custody, before walking free after the victim’s father had found “incriminating messages” on her phone, which meant the boy’s guilty plea could no longer be accepted.
