GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – A local Facebook page is helping families afford Thanksgiving meals this year following recent freezing weather and rising grocery store prices. The Grand Junction Community Facebook page, which has over 16,000 members, is connecting families in need with members willing to provide Thanksgiving turkeys. Page administrators pulled together their resources to help bridge the gap between those who need assistance and those able to help. Families seeking help can make a post on the page or send a direct message to an admin, who will then connect them with another member willing to assist. “We do have, you know, government programs and non-profits. But there’s always, sometimes, some gaps that happen. And we’ve been able to utilize this group as a way to fill in those gaps. Because everyone still deserves a chance to be able, you know, to find and have their needs met,” said Lynette Rose, page admin. The program will continue connecting families through Thanksgiving. Administrators said they are working on additional holiday resources, including a Christmas toy drive. Copyright 2025 KKCO. All rights reserved.
