The 30-year-old suspect was charged July 20 with child sexual abuse material, a Class 1 felony; unlawful possession of a firearm, a Class 3 felony; grooming, a Class 4 felony; and sexual exploitation of a child, a Class A misdemeanor. According to court documents, between June 4 and June 8, the suspect solicited a 13-year-old girl to send him photos of her bare breasts; used social media (Snapchat) to solicit unlawful sexual conduct with the victim; was in possession of a Remington 12-gauge shotgun after his Firearm Owner’s Identification Card had been revoked; and exposed himself to the victim “virtually.” The suspect was ordered remanded to jail. According to a petition to deny pre-trial release filed by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office, the suspect had been communicating with the 13-year-old girl on Snapchat.
