On August 15, 1947, India was declared independent from the British colonialism of more than 200 years. The struggle for freedom of India from the British rule lasted for over 90 years from 1857 to 1947, witnessing the sacrifices of many brave hearts who laid down their lives for the freedom of their country and people. The Independence Day celebration is marked throughout the country with Indian flag-hosting ceremonies, drills, and the singing of the Indian national anthem. To free the nation from the shackles of the British Raj, several freedom fighters went through unimaginable pain and sacrificed their lives for the freedom of India.
