Keiki 18 years and under will receive free meals during the summer months of June and July through Hawaii Foodbank’s SUN Meals and Kaukau 4 Keiki programs, according to a news release. “Tens of thousands of children throughout the state rely on school-provided meals. For many households, it’s the most consistent source of food,” said Hawaii Foodbank Director of Keiki Nutrition Laura Zysman in the release. “Summer programs like SUN Meals and Kaukau 4 Keiki help to fill a critical gap, helping to alleviate stress for parents while ensuring every child returns to school healthy and ready to learn.” SUN Meals Previously known as the Summer Food Service Program, SUN Meals distributes meals at various locations across the island for keiki 18 and under, where they can eat together at set times on weekdays. No registration is required. Learn more by visiting the SUN Meals website.
