A second round of payments is set to be distributed to Facebook users in Meta’s $725 million privacy settlement. The settlement stems from multiple lawsuits brought against Facebook alleging the company shared user data without permission to third parties, including “whitelisted” parties, business partners, advertisers and data brokers. Meta denies any liability or wrongdoing, according to the Facebook User Privacy Settlement website. Settlement class members include Facebook users living in the U.S. between May 24, 2007 and Dec. 22, 2022. The initial round of payments were sent out in September 2025 to an estimated 250 million people who were eligible for a cash payout. Payment amounts were dependent on how long a person used Facebook during the class period and the number of submitted claims. Am I eligible for a second payment? A court approved a second round of payments to redistribute uncashed settlement funds to class members who cashed their initial payment, according to the settlement administrator. Those eligible for an additional payment will receive a notification to their email three to four days before the payment is issued.
