In emotional Instagram video, Travis Scott says he could 'never imagine anything like this happening'

Joey Guerra, Staff WriterNov. 7, 2021 Houston rapper Travis Scott posted on Instagram Stories about the Astroworld Festival tragedy.instagram.com/travisscott Travis Scott took to Instagram Saturday night to expand on his earlier statement about the Astroworld Festival tragedy that that left at least eight people dead and dozens more injured after a sold-out crowd of roughly 50,000 surged during his performance late Friday at NRG Park. The Houston native, who grew up in Sunnyside and Missouri City, was visibly affected by the situation. “I just wanna send out prayers to the,” Scott said before taking a pause to rub his forehead in a black-and-white video, “to the ones that was lost last night.” Seventeen people were taken to the hospital. Houston Fire Chief Samuel Peña said 11 were in in cardiac arrest. More than 300 were treated at the field hospital at NRG Park throughout the day because of heat exhaustion, alcohol poisoning and overdoses.  The tragedy at Astroworld Festival Scott is known for his high-octane performances and impassioned fans that he refers to as “ragers.” His connection with them, many of whom are young men, goes beyond the music.
