LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Court records obtained from Laken Snelling’s case file reveal that Lexington police sought a search warrant for her Snapchat account as part of the investigation into the death of her newborn baby. Snelling, a former University of Kentucky student, was indicted on a manslaughter charge and briefly held at the Fayette County Detention Center Thursday before bonding out. At around 4 a.m. on Aug. 27, one roommate sent a message saying she heard a loud noise that sounded like something had fallen. A second roommate said she heard it too and that whatever caused it had been forceful enough to knock a picture off the wall. One roommate said the noises lasted for about an hour. Just before 9 a.m. that same morning, Snelling sent a message in the group chat saying the noise had been her passing out.
