MEMPHIS, Tenn. — With the stroke of piano keys, Trevor Gomes has raised big funds for St. Jude.“Tonight is my last stream,” Gomes said. “I’m going big. 5 P.M. to midnight. I’m shooting for $100,000. That was my goal.”Gomes, who moved to Memphis to be closer to the hospital, is one of the thousands of streamers taking part in the St. Jude PLAY LIVE fund-raising campaign this month.He’s raised $68,000, with a goal of $100,000 by the end of the night.He said this event has worked perfectly during the pandemic.“When everything shut down last March, PLAY LIVE did the best it had ever done,” he said. “They were having to cancel things like the marathon but then at the same time you’ve got things like PLAY LIVE that are strictly on the internet, so nothing really changes.”TRENDING: Councilwoman says kids don’t know how to separate video games from real lifeKyle Blessing is another streamer currently bases out of Memphis.
