(BCSO) SAN ANTONIO – A man has been arrested for the alleged sexual assault of a child after Snapchat messages were discovered by a witness. 34-year-old Jaye Alexander Wells was arrested and charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child. According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, the case came to light after a concerned witness discovered alarming Snapchat messages between Wells and the child. The child, who did not have her own social media account, had reportedly accessed Snapchat using the witness’s phone. The content of those messages prompted the witness to alert the child’s parents, who immediately contacted law enforcement. An investigation uncovered allegations that the assaults began when the victim was just 13 years old. Authorities say Wells, who had known the family for years, used that familiarity to gain access to the child and allegedly manipulated her emotionally in an attempt to keep the abuse secret.
