According to a Facebook post from the Sumner Police Department, police arrested the suspect in Marysville early Tuesday morning. The suspect was booked into Pierce County Jail and is facing charges of second-degree rape, third-degree rape of a child and communicating with a minor for immoral purposes. In the post, SPD said the man allegedly contacted the girl through Snapchat before “forcibly sexually assaulting her” at her home. The post did not list the suspect’s age and gender or say when the alleged sexual assault happened. Court documents say the man is 24 years old and allegedly sexually assaulted the girl in June. “The Sumner Police Department remains committed to protecting children, supporting victims of sexual violence, and working with our local, regional, and state partners to thoroughly investigate crimes against vulnerable members of our community,” the post said.
