Last October, Bergevin was asked, if he was in a perfect world, would he want to stay on as general manager of the Canadiens past this season, when his contract would expire. “In a perfect world, yes,” he said. A month later, team owner/president Geoff Molson fired Bergevin , who was in his 10th season as GM. The Canadiens had a 6-15-2 record at the time after advancing to the Stanley Cup final last season before losing to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Bergevin didn’t stay unemployed long.
