Mariners place Cole Wilcox on IL, recall reliever – Seattle Sports

The Seattle Mariners placed reliever Cole Wilcox on the 15-day injured list with a left oblique strain Friday. In a corresponding move, reliever Nick Davila was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma. Wilcox had allowed three runs and recorded two outs in the top of the seventh before grabbing at his side after throwing a pitch and gingerly walking off the mound. After a meeting with a team trainer, he was pulled from the game in a 1-2 count. The 27-year-old Wilcox, who was acquired in a November 2025 with the Tampa Bay Rays, has a 4.00 ERA and 1.63 WHIP with 28 strikeouts to 17 walks over 27 innings pitched this season. Davila, 27, is up for his third stint with the Mariners this year. The right-hander has a 3.57 ERA and 1.19 WHIP with nine strikeouts to 11 walks over 22 2/3 innings in the majors this year.
