Marjorie Taylor Greene’s calls for her supporters to flock to right-wing social media platforms after her personal account was permanently suspended appear to be having some effect.The Republican congresswoman urged people to ditch Twitter and join conservative network Gettr and the controversial “free speech” social media site Gab in protest at her being banned from the site.According to the internet archive website the WayBack Machine, since Greene was suspended from Twitter on January 2, the Georgia congresswoman has gained 44,600 followers on Gab, as well as around 23,600 followers on Gettr, amounting to more than 68,000 new social media followers overall. In a statement, Twitter confirmed it had suspended Greene’s personal account where she had more than 460,000 followers for “repeated violations” of its COVID-19 misinformation policy.Soon afterwards, Greene called on “every Republican to LEAVE Twitter!” in a post on Gettr.
