Markle Fisheries’ clubhouse to become new holiday let | East Lothian Courier

VISITORS could once again be stopping off at a former fishery’s clubhouse after plans to breathe new life into the building were given the green light. Markle Fisheries, near the East Coast Mainline and East Linton, was a popular destination for anglers for more than 20 years. However, following the Covid-19 pandemic, it shut its doors in 2022. East Lothian Council has now given the go-ahead for the building, which housed a restaurant, bar, tackle shop and manager’s flat, to be turned into a short-term holiday let. A document included with J&C Trainer’s plans described tourism as “a major industry in East Lothian” and said that it contributed “significantly to the local economy”.
