Mumbai News: MMRDA to set up new public park with clubhouse and helipads at BKC

Mumbai:Mumbai: Mumbaikars can soon look forward to a new recreation facility in Mumbai that isn’t a retail mall, yet by loosening up their purse strings. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has identified an area in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) to set up a public Park with a clubhouse and helipads.Private players called in through DBFOT basisFor this, it has invited private players to create, operate and maintain the facility through Design, Build, Finance, Operate, Transfer (DBFOT) basis. This means the recreation space is most likely not a free area for the public to relax and unwind their worries.This theme-based park will be in G-Block of the central business district and will have a clubhouse, open-air banquet lawns and two helipads. As per MMRDA’s plans, the club will have suites, a conference room, an auditorium, a restaurant, a fitness zone and indoor game facilities.There will also be areas for a swimming pool, cricket, lawn tennis, football ground, basketball court and a running track of 400meter.Recreational facility for richSo far, the MMRDA on its own has developed parks at two places – E Block within BKC and Maharashtra Nature Park at Dharavi.
