North Port sets time for virtual 9/11 remembrance service; ceremony will be livestreamed

Staff Report  |  Sarasota Herald-TribuneNORTH  PORT – The city of North Port has firmed up plans for its virtual 9//11 remembrance service set for Saturday.For the second consecutive year, COVID-19 pandemic social distancing restrictions are prompting the city to curtail live ceremonies.North Port Fire Rescue will host a brief private virtual event Saturday morning with a flag raising, ringing of the bell, and a few comments; the live video will air at 9 a.m. and the link is https://fb.me/e/XsHiTlj5.Also Saturday, a piece of the Twin Towers will be placed in front of North Port City Hall, 4970 City Hall Blvd., for those who wish to drive-by, lay cards, lay flowers, or simply reflect or pay their respects.The city is conducting the Remember the Fallen 5K as a virtual event.  More details can be found at https://runsignup.com/Race/FL/NorthPort/RemembertheFallen5KMemorialRun.
