Norwich man ‘sent death threats to himself on Facebook‘ – Eastern Daily Press

A man has been accused of setting up a fake Facebook account to send himself death threats that he could then blame on his ex-partner. Robert Colman, 52, of Argyle Street in Norwich, faces a single charge of perverting the course of justice. Nicola Lamb, prosecuting, told Norwich Magistrates’ Court it was claimed he had set up a Facebook profile in a woman’s name from which he then sent to himself threats to kill. He is then said to have contacted police to report the threats and insisted that they arrest her. But prosecutors allege the source of the messages was traced to an IP address linked to his property. Defence solicitor Chris Brown said: “He denies these allegations. There is at this stage no technical evidence simply someone saying they came from his IP address and not the woman concerned. That will be tested in due course.” Magistrates committed the case to be heard at Norwich Crown Court with an initial hearing on January 5.   He was bailed with conditions including not to contact the woman and not to set up new or use any existing social media accounts.
