Read more OnlyFans, a subscriber-only website, is taking a page out of the Tumblr handbook, announcing that it will be blocking sexually explicit material starting October 1st. For those who don’t remember, back in 2018, Tumblr decided that they were going to start blocking adult content. It was a move presumably geared at “protecting vulnerable communities” on the site that ended up leaving NSFW content creators with nowhere to post their work and the loss of years of work. By March of 2019, Tumblr had lost about a third of its user base. According to PinkNews, Tumblr suffered a 150 million drop in page view traffic after their adult content ban. And if you check Google Trends’ analytics over the past five years to gauge interest in Tumblr, you also see a sharp decline in 2019 that has continuously fallen to this day. That’s what OnlyFans is risking as it begins its journey into blocking sexually explicit material. Just to clarify, OnlyFans’ ban on sexually explicit material doesn’t mean that the site will be saying goodbye to its nude photos or videos. Those can still be posted.…
