BOSTON, MAS. — An Oswego man has pleaded guilty in a Snapchat hacking scheme in federal court in Boston. Twenty-seven-year-old Kyle Svara pleaded guilty to aggravated identity theft, wire fraud, computer fraud, and making false statements related to child sexual abuse material. Prosecutors say Svara posed as a representative of Snapchat to gain access to victims’ accounts and steal nude or semi-nude photos in 2020 and 2021. He then sold and traded the images online. Authorities also say he was hired by a former Northeastern University track coach to obtain photos of students and other women the coach knew. Investigators allege Svara also targeted victims in the Plainfield area and students at Colby College in Waterville, Maine. Svara is scheduled to be sentenced in May.
