(WSBT photo) MISHAWAKA, Ind. (WSBT) — A threat seen on social media involving Schmucker Middle School was confirmed as a hoax, according to a letter sent by Penn-Harris-Madison Schools to parents. Officials said they identified the individual responsible and students involved. The Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation and law enforcement investigated a threat on social media directed to students at Schmucker Middle School. As a precaution, safety measures will be in place for the safety of students and staff on Wednesday. Measures included additional law enforcement officers on campus throughout the day, according to a letter released to parents. A Snapchat message viewed by a Schmucker student said that the school will be shot up. P-H-M Director of Safety and Student Services Tommy Teeter was notified immediately. School officials say there were able to quickly act with the information shared and with cooperation from multiple departments to resolve the incident quickly.
