The Sept. 10 Facebook post, created by Homer-Center School District board member Misty Hunt, was uploaded the same day Kirk was shot and killed at Utah Valley University. “One down, hundreds to go,” Hunt’s post said in white text on a red background, according to TribLive. In a separate post around 11:20 p.m., Hunt explained the caption of the misconstrued post was supposed to be paired with a video of milkweed seeds blowing in the wind, which she releases to help monarch butterfly populations. “So today a tragedy occurred. And I was too busy enjoying nature to know what went down,” Hunt said. “I was in my feels with the beautiful weather and put a bunch of milkweed seed pods in the shed to dry and the one that was opened up I took with me.
