Predator, 51, filmed himself abusing schoolboy he groomed on Snapchat – Stoke-on-Trent Live

A predatory paedophile travelled to North Staffordshire to sexually assault a schoolboy he had groomed on Snapchat. Jacques Du Plessis has been jailed for more than eight years for the sickening abuse. Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard the 51-year-old started talking to the victim on Snapchat and arranged to pick him up in Newcastle-under-Lyme last year. He then sexually assaulted him a number of times over the next few days in different locations, recording one of the incidents on his phone. Du Plessis, of Newport, Shropshire, was reported to Staffordshire Police in May last year with detectives working hard to build up the base against him. He went on to plead guilty to three counts of engaging in sexual activity with a boy and one count of meeting a boy following grooming, making indecent/pseudo photographs of a child and distributing an indecent/pseudo photograph of a child. The defendant was sentenced to eight-years-and-three-months in prison earlier this month.
