Prestwick Golf Club’s big plans overcome licensing hurdle – Daily Record

Ayrshire Live Prestwick Councillors approved significant changes to the clubs premises license, a major part of the clubs redevelopment plans. Prestwick Golf Club has been given the green light to make significant changes to its drinks license. In its application for a variation to its premises license, the club said that it would pave the way for the final stage of a major clubhouse redevelopment. The club’s licence was originally granted in 2009 and has seen minimal changes since. Licensing Standards Officer Catrina Andrews told South Ayrshire Licensing Board that discussions had taken place over several months to ensure the updated licence would support the long-term sustainability of the historic members’ club. A full renovation of the upper floor of the clubhouse is now nearing completion. The work includes new office space alongside a modernised bar and restaurant area, accessed directly from the main street. The investment was described as important to improve both safety and the overall standard of the premises. Importantly, the club confirmed it will continue to operate strictly on a members-and-guests-only basis, with no move towards general public access.
