Roadrunners ready for American Athletic Conference Championship

Conor Kvatek/American Athletic ConferenceWomen’s GolfApril 13, 2025SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will compete in the American Athletic Conference Championship, which will be contested on Monday-Wednesday, April 14-16, at Southern Hills Plantation Club (par 72/6,289 yards) in Brooksville, Florida. The Roadrunners will line up against Charlotte, East Carolina, Florida Atlantic, Memphis, North Texas, South Florida, Tulane, Tulsa, UAB and Wichita State in the 54-hole, stroke-play event. The field will play 18 holes with tee times starting at 7 a.m. CT each day. ESPN+ will provide live coverage of Wednesday’s final round with John Liddle, Lauren Withrow and Maria Trivelpiece calling the action. UTSA junior Daniela Abonce will set out to defend her conference crown captured a year ago on this same course. The Veracruz, Mexico, native fired a 9-under-par 207 to become the sixth Roadrunner to win a league title. After opening the event with a 6-under 66 — the best score in a conference tournament in program history — and a 72, she carded a 3-under 69 in the final round for a one-shot victory ahead of Tulsa’s Lovisa Gunnar.
